I am trying to understand the whole "pokerus" thing.

I just got finished catching Virizion, 5 of my pokemon were fainted. I went to the poke'center to cure them and the nurse said that one of my pokemon has "pokerus".

I looked it up, and it said I can tell which poke'mon has it, but when I looked, I didn't see anything. I did see a purple smiley at the bottom that people mentioned, but it looks more like a straight face to me. They said that the smiley means that it still has benefits but it cant be spread.

My question is why cant I spread it? I only had it just now, they said it would become non-contagious in four days, but it hasn't been four days... Yet I don't see the stat.

Also, I am not entirely sure how to tell which one has it, I might be looking at the wrong smiley, could someone tell me everything about pokerus? Also I am playing in or/as.

    Thanks.

https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Pok%C3%A9rus < A little Larry never hurts :) Btw think of it as a good pokemon illness i've never touched neither x/y or oras so your best bet is visiting the link there or from someone who has played but i think ev removed in gen 6 it was until gen 5 but not sure. Good luck.

P.S Btw the max ev is 252 so even with or without pokerus you can't have any more than a total of 510 evs so it just hastens the accumulation of evs nothing so special. If you like to check ev you should check serebii and there it has a list of pokemon who give ev when defeated. Note: The pokemon who defeats the opponent pokemon gets the ev.

Hmm, the mechanics of the Pokerus in OR/AS are the same as they've always been, at least as far as I know, but I'm not 100% sure and if someone knows differently than me please feel free to correct me on this :)

But, the way it's always worked is that the infection can last anywhere between 1 and 4 days--how long it actually lasts depends on what "strain" of the Pokerus your Pokemon has, which is determined at the time it contracts it. So the 4 days isn't a guarantee. Again, this is just the way the Pokerus has always worked, but I'm not sure if ORAS introduced any variations, though I don't believe it did. But, the smiley face icon means that your Pokemon had the Pokerus at one point and was cured, so it seems likely that the time limit simply expired.

This is all in the bulbapedia page King Elizabello linked, by the way, so if there's any other details you'd like to learn about the Pokerus, that should help a lot :)
