Uncensored versions of animes.

Two recent animes which have released uncensored versions are Terra Formers and Tokyo Ghoul, do you think that releasing uncensored version of "horror" animes like these can make them more enjoyable to watch? Would having them uncensored in the first place be better and keep more people watching?

I personally didn't like Terra Formers and Tokyo Ghoul because although I love horror animes both of these missed something which made them enjoyable, Tokyo Ghoul was probably because the MC was a complete wuss and I didn't like that and Terra Formers was because it lacked something which I believe it got back when they released the uncensored version.

What are your thoughts on the release on uncensored versions of animes?

Anime censorship is certainly weird when they air late at night.

If something has black/white screen censorship I tend to just wait for the blurays.

I always thought the whole inverting colours thing they did on some ofTokyo Ghoul's censors was a bit weird.

I remember then doing it to Pupa too and I think that was the first time I'd seen content censored from an anime.

Overall, the whole black and white censors, I really hate them because a lot of the time they look really out of place in the shot. It's okay, if they can show it somewhat naturally, but a lot the time it's a lot of this:

and that looks just plain off.

I find it weirder that you were actually watching Tokyo Ghoul.

Yeah those inverts were just incredibly stupid, why have the anime on at a late time and then still invert it to not show the gore. I agree with Wee the anime was just so bad, I had high hope for it because it was a horror anime but they just ruined it completely by removing/changing the gore (also had a wuss mc).

Also if I remember correctly Terra Formers never had inverted colours for the gore they just removed it all together.

I tend to wait for Blue Rays in these cases but there are some versions that are TV uncensored or sub groups edit it a bit (like DameDesuYo did with Ghoul).

Personally, I find censorship to be an annoyance and a distraction from the show itself. I've watched both censored and uncensored of Mirai Nikki and Deadman Wonderland and both times have preferred the originals. IMO, if it wasn't meant to be shown, then don't show it, but don't try to cover it up with blurry circles or cheesy bleep noises that the audience shouldn't have to deal with.
