Unwanted Features

This is probably pretty controversial, but trainer customization. It just felt like a cheap gimmick, and I honestly have never understand why people went crazy about it. I just don't think they should waste development time / energy on gimmicks that add nothing to the enjoyment of the game.

Honestly, is there anyone out there saying "ORAS would've amazing, if only I could've changed Brendan's hat. Then it would've been perfect."?

Agreed to a certain extent. I think the basic customisation (i.e. picking skin colour and so on) is cool but I found the idea of buying clothes and stuff quite whatever. It's not an offensive feature obviously but yeah, it'd be nice if they focused on stuff that felt more impactful.

Megas, they're completely unnecessary imo and I'd much rather see actual evolutions. They're pretty much my least favorite of Gen VI.

Also, as many others have said, I'd like to see the Battle Maison gone in favor of the Frontier. If the Maison was part of the frontier it would be great, but having that as the only real endgame thing was super bogus, especially in XY.

Yes, mega evolution should stay as a gen 6 gimmick. Unfortunately, due to marketing and merchandise, it will never end..... Yes, i'd rather a battle frontier, with possibly a maison stuck somewhere in there too! I want a new battle frontier though, can't say I like copying just for nostalgia's sake.

The reason why it was a highly praised feature was because it finally allowed players to have their own look, and also meant no more endless clones of the default protagonist designs being seen in online battling. However, the future of trainer customization has been up in the air ever since Masuda said that it was meant to be a Kalos-only feature that tied in with its theme of beauty.

I'm sick of forced tutorials at the start of games. At the very least give us the option to skip it.

"Don't know how to catch a Pokemon? Let me show you."

I KNOW HOW TO CATCH POKEMON!!! I've been catching them since before you were programmed you ****ing know-it-all!

I have to agree there. I don´t want to see any more Megas in Gen 7, or at least not too many.

And yeah, the Battle Maison as the only option was terrible, especially in ORAS, where it was just done again. I also hope for the Frontier again, or, even better, the PWT from BW2. That would be fantastic!

I'm suspecting the reason why the Battle Maison was shared between both XY and ORAS was to ensure compatibility with both games, given you were able to have two players team up together via local wireless in the Multi Battles.

You´re right, that makes sense. But that still doesn't excuse the laziness on Game Freak's part in my opinion.
But I'm pretty sure, that they're going to build in more this time.

I'm sure they'll have been putting loads of effort into this game, given this year is Pokemon's 20th anniversary and they wouldn't want to let players down.

Musicals. Not like I expect them to come back, but I never liked those and was glad that Black2/White2 gave us PokeStar Studios.

Also Game Freak please make the tutorials optional this time, some of us have been doing this for 10-20 years we don't need to be told again how to catch pokes

it added to my enjoyment of the game =(

The main reason why tutorials have been as they are is likely to cater towards younger, newer players. Pokemon's main target audience has been kids and there always tends to be newcomers to the series when a new game comes so that's why the tutorials have been a mainstay.

Yeah, let's hope that Game Freak give it their best this time (even though they always do).

I would also wish for the removal of Contests, Musicals, Pokéwood, etc. and keep the game mainstreamed. That's just me though, there are probably tons of people who enjoy them.

But O-Powers should definitely stay in my opinion; they were great! They made grinding, catching and especially breeding so much easier. And besides, I always considered sending a friend an O-Power a nice gesture. :)

Even I (who is terrible at ROM hacks) could insert a simple yes/no

Seriously tutorials should be optional and not mandatory. Just look at how Gen 1 has the old man showing how to capture wit a Yes or No choice.

As you might probably have guessed, I kinda totally disagree with that. I loved the fact that we could customize our characters because personally, it made me express my trainer in my own special way, just how with real life clothes, you express yourself.

Would be a very big shame to cancel that off, as it's one of the biggest reasons it made X and Y so special. Then again, everyone sticks to his own opinion, so I can't judge.

As for Megas, I don't know about other people but I'd love to add some more.

I wouldn't mind the tutorials if they added some flair to it somehow.

Given it's the 20th anniversary they COULD do a flashback to catching Pokemon in Generation I. So pretty much...

"Hey Duck! Would you like to learn how to catch a Pokemon? I found some old film footage from 20 years ago, and it's pretty insightful. Check it out, for me, please?" Then cue the old guy at Viridian City. Would make a nice flashback and reference to the original games. If that doesn't exist though, I'm totally onboard with everyone else in that tutorials aren't really necessary for us and should be skipped. I mean we could GET something for sitting through a tutorial, that'd be cool.
