[Other] VBA and Pokemon Crystal

I am having trouble with playing Pokemon Crystal on Visual Boy Advance. Here's my problem every time I try to use a Rare Candy code or buy Rare Candies in a Mart the game cuts off and I get the message saying that it can only be played on the GBC but I have the option set to GB/GBC. What am I supposed to do to fix this?

The Action Replay or Gameshark Fuction only runs correctly on Game Boy Advance games.
It does run litte on Game Boy Color, yet some codes make VBA crash.

It also could be the rom is corrupted or dead.

A way you can try to and fix it is you and make all roms correct to VBA.
It should work, but like I said earlier, some codes crash VBA, or gives you errors.

how do you get crystal on VBA? ( i have a mac.)

I think it's the codes. I suggest playing without the codes. But, get a new rom as that one might be corrupted already.
