How do I become a mod? Yeah, I forgot. I've seen a message saying to ask, but I'm not sure. *points to Arcanine*

Or is it some random choice?

It's definitely not a random choice.

The higher staff picks and choose between star members who they think display the maturity, responsibility, and knowledge required to be a mod.

And don't ask to become one, that usually drags your chances down.

Hm... I remember Arcanine saying something else... I'll get the quote.

No he is right. You have to have all that he mentioned plus well a certain something about you that makes you stand out above everyone. And certainly not random. They never pick on favorite members or such cause well madness would ensue cause the power would go to their heads.

    Found it!

Oh sure you can. Make sure you send a PM with an application to be a Mod, make sure you tell reasons why you'd like to be a Mod, what would you do to help this very very large forum, what forums you'd like to Mod, and if you'd like to be promoted to S-Mod down the road.
Also make sure you read the PC Rules, and the PC FAQ. And after you've read them all send that PM to me requesting to be a Mod and I'll take care of it.

And I'm going to close this now because we don't want anyone else replying also asking to be a Mod like you just did. If word got out that we Mod on request then we'd never hear the end of it. ^_^

I think she forgot to add the Terms of Service.

Yup, that happened once. It caused a huge mess of drama that ended with a lot of members/staff (myself included) to leave the site.

So they do it all by votes and discussions in their top secret evil headquarters.

Edit: And seems they changed the rule regarding asking to be a mod then. It did seem silly to me, as how would anyone ever get interest in?

Editedit: Actually, there's a section in that FAQ on becoming a mod. It mentions not asking to be a mod.

Higher up? What's that. Also, .Sublime, why do you write walls of text here?

Yeah, I know that. I just remember what he/she said.

Hm... Gender Bender emblem goes to Arcanine. Anyway, .Sublime does write walls of text in these threads.

So, it's just a choice made by the S-Mods+?

Oh my god I loved that post with my life.

Staff decides who gets to be modded, not you. :3

First of all, it is not a random choice or most of the mods here would be spammers etc. :\
You have to put effort into your posts, prove that you can handle the role, be active among other things. Most of all, you must put effort into what you are posting. And 'sucking up' to a mod, staff admin etc doesn't increase your chances . Oh, and asking lowers your chances. ;)

There was no harm in asking, though.

Anyhoo, don't aim to become a mod just have staff power, or a bolded username. That doesn't mean you're special, it means you have to devote hours of your day cleaning up other people's spam. Well, so-to-speak. xD Mods also have very little staff power.. aiming to become an Admin seems like a better goal. >_>

There's just one thing i don't understand, how to become mod of the welcome forum. All you do is say "hi welcome to pc read the rules and have fun" there's nothing much you can do really to become a mod. And for the other trivia section, all you do is play games.

Becoming a moderator: we see members who report a lot in certain forums, have high quality posts (quantity is much less important--when I was made a mod I had like 110 posts), seem helpful towards other members, start a lot of threads/make an effort to improve a forum/section by starting interesting discussions, and so on. They show they could potentially be good community leaders.
Question now.I have reported numerous times over my time here(like say over 40 or so, I mean i cannot remember how many times cause well I reported so much) I have a large quantity of posts bit mediocre quality help members here and there except if they are pretty damn annoying I start threads sometimes and I start a nice discussion here and there. Hypothetically now would a member like that be able to be eligble for a mod status?
I am going to regret asking this in the long run aren't I...

Well there are those who are noobs I mean new who post sine really spammy stuff and some games could go awry or one game might not work or might even exist and is a duplicate! I actually study patterns of most of the areas sad I know.
