[PokeCommunity.com] Video Games that turn you into the real Badass

The enjoyable part of playing any video game whether it be a story based campaign or a multiplayer venture is putting ourselves in the shoes or the boots of a character and see ourselves the struggles or hardships that they face whether it be feeling vulnerable, being at the mercy of the foes, having to fight with and against overwhelming odds or simply symphatizing with the character as he or she is trapped in a room full of demons. you are at the mercy of your foes. You are in the traumatic event.

Or theres the other part where you play as the nearly unstoppable slayer, the manliest of men, the real force of nature, the one that even the most evil of foes fear in their sleep, the ones whom the boogeyman checks his closet every night for, the one who is so feared that even demons s**t their pants when they see him. In short, The demons are trapped with YOU! YOU ARE THE REAL BADASS MOTHER F****r!! Your enemies are at your very mercy!! You ARE the traumatic event!

So we discuss what are some games that make you feel that you are playing as a badass mother ******er who annihilates your enemies, see them driven into giblets before you, and hear the lamentations of the NPCs. What games make you feel that you are this character whom the enemies or the demons are trapped inside the cage with, and why do you enjoy being the annihilator.

Or on the contrary, do you still prefer to play as the weak and struggling avatar or character who seems to be vulnerable and possibly eats tofu and watched movies where people kiss in the rain? (+3 who knew where that came from), but at most are more relatable and likeable as chracters to symphatize with? Do you feel thst you relate more to the vulnerable ones rather than the INSANELY EXAGGERATED ones?

    Discuss.

I think Metal Gear Rising: Revengance does a great job establish the badass you are playing in the first 5 minutes in the game (before getting cybernetic enchantments too).

I actually like the games where you are playing a badass more, and there are actually surprisingly little games that do that, or at least pull off the feeling successfully. In most games you aren't really any more different from any other fighter in the setting except you have more health and you have plot armor so you don't die from things that kill literally everyone else, cause obviously game would be over if you died.

Letting you play a badass also naturally means the bosses are strong and awesome as well... unless you live in AC universes where bosses are just reskins of mooks.

Its kinda surprising too that there are fewer games these days to give everyone the chance to play as the ultimate badass but at least theres games in the modern lot such as the Doom reboot (which obviously the main source of inspiration for thread) which obviously pulls it off successfully both in-game and in story, i mean this is one of those games that tell you that the demons are scarred sh*tless when they see the Doom Slayer..

OH SH*T WE HAVE OURSELVES AN ASSEMBLY FOR A CRATER OF BADASSITUDE!!!

In all seriousness, id like to mention Borderlands 2 mainly for giving you the oppotunity to play as any of the equally badass vault hunters who seem to easily outclass ALL of the enemies in the game. And of course theres playing as Salvador who pretty much face rolls the game from lvl1 to OP8. The game is at tour mercy when you play as him. Theres also Krieg who is equally as fun and stuplidly fun to play as. The only real downside with krieg is that he is hard to level in the very early game since many of his skills only work when other skills have been put on.

Idk if racing games count, but i really felt like a badass when I played whole Need for Speed Underground in hardest difficulty, it's an old game, but it's so dynamic and it's incredibly difficult to win races when you're not good on corners and it really requires good reaction time.

Also destroying hordes of robots as Yorha A2 in berserk mode, with good chipset in NieR: Automata, man, that was some intense stuff.

To answer the other question. Sometimes i want to be overpowered character and just clear the whole area in couple of seconds, but there are games i want to challenge myself and do them with weaker character/item/whatever i'm playing as. It's a balanced thing for me.

I remember playing Fallout 4 and the minute i have my Shotgun Surgeon build and it felt so good just pumping out chems like Psychojet and just ran rampant with my combat shotgun against the brotherhood of steel.

Theres also WWE here comes the pain. Just pick Brock Lesnar who was intentionally made to be the game's mascot as he has some of the most damaging moves in his default moveset while having the best overall stats. You were practically near unstoppable in Career mode if you just played Brock.

Musou games make me feel like one, very addicting 3D beat em' up for me, and we tend to get more kills in the newer games.

We can thank the much better game engines that the newer musou games have. DW8 in particular has many stages were billions of kills are possible, especially Lu Bu's campaign in DW8 XL.

I think the new engine is really good and cool, but I actually prefer the old engine, because the hit boxes in the newer engine are just too big and feel too unreal. Well, still enjoyable and addicting gameplay though.

    Edit: WORST EDIT WORLD

Requoting the original message of thos thrrad hecause i love to see where thos goes.
