Video Gaming Events Planning

    Right, not really sure exactly what to post, but basically we'll need to work together to create a layout and organise times etc.

    I imagine you all have an idea about what your events will include and that's more of an individual process.

    Timings

    Ideally we want the times for the separate video gaming events not to conflict in case people want to participate in each video gaming event. So feel free to list whatever timings are good for you event across the period of the Get Together.

    We might also want to pay attention to the timings of the Retro Gaming Event as people could be interested in both.

    Layout

    If none of the other game hosts have much experience in CSS (I certainly don't), I'm sure we can borrow an old layout from Captain Fabio as he has set up various Video Games events in the past and they looked pretty good from what I can remember. Obviously at the most basic we simply need to include each gaming event, the timings, maybe a description etc. We'll probably have a sign up list in the OP as well.

    Emblems

    Finally, I'm happy to make some basic emblems for participation, but if any of you have extensive Photoshop experience (or any other program) then obviously you could make them if you would rather. Based on the emblems I have received in the past that I can look at, I should be fine making something of similar quality if no one else fancies it.

    I personally do not plan to hand out other prizes as my event doesn't really involve competition between those participating, but you may feel differently for your part of the event.

    So yeah contribute your thoughts whenever. :)

    Imma help host PS3 with OokamiReki; I'm thinking Borderlands 1/2 and Black Ops 1. I have Borderlands 2 on the PC too, but I'm pretty nub when it comes to the other PC games we could host. That's all Griff/Krazzikk/Reki. I can help with CSS/emblems if no one else wants to do that.

    PokéCommunity Get-Together 2013 Chit Chat Thread
    Did you know that this is the thread where everyone can discuss anything for four whole days? That's 96 hours of talk time! Chat about anything as long as you follow our community rules. Be courteous and follow the current topic until it seems like the chat is slowing down - then you can bring in a new topic. When in doubt, share what Get-Together events you're participating in or your thoughts on the overall event. Have fun!

    I'm free to do Starcraft II from 11 am to 7pm EST (4 pm to 12 pm GMT, 8 am to 4 pm PST, I refuse to do anymore conversions) Friday, Sunday and Monday. Saturday is no good for me, unfortunately.

    A note about Starcraft II, anyone who doesn't have the game can also play provided they install the starter edition AND vm me with their character name and code. I pull them into a party once they get online, and that's that. There has to be a note about that somewhere in the original post.

    I showed Blade the other day and she doesn't have the game. :3

    Other games I can host: Spiral Knights and Diablo II

    I was thinking about hosting a few League of Legends matches on one day and DOTA 2 matches on the other. I'm not sure exactly what day I would host them and I don't want to host them at any inconvenient time like I did last year. My time zone is (PST). Are there any suggestions on times I should start hosting?

    Also, as TwilightBlade stated, i'll be helping out with the Borderlands 2 hosting on the PS3.

    I recently found out I have a pretty stiff schedule the weekend of the together so I really need Sunday at 8ish please.

    Jsyk I'm the host for TF2. I have server already reserved for us, but I still haven't started planning yet. I need to straighten out the CSS/thread, emblems, item prizes, and what kind of event's we'll have.

    Oh and speaking of item prizes, donations of TF2 items as prizes is needed/appreciated :-)

    I'm in the EST time zone by the way.

    Obviously timing is going to be difficult for me due to the difference in time zones. Preferably I'd like Friday or Monday (technically it will Sat/Tues for me due to the time I'm about to propose) and ideally I'd like to start it around midnight for me which would be 7pm in some parts of the US and 4pm in others. Do you think most people would be happy with those times?

    That's what I was aiming for so that's good. I'm happy with either Friday or Monday at those times then unless someone else needs to host on those days.

    Just to let everyone know, I might not be able to host any gaming tournaments because of a last minute family event that I have to attend to. Ill see what day would work in the meantime but most likely i would have to host next week.

    Friday 5th to Monday 8th. :)

    I can't do anything on the Saturday by the way due to my sister's birthday party. It looks like we won't have anything on Saturday.

    Friday and Saturday are my best days. I can host a couple of times on Sunday. I announced in the thread that we need some more hosts then.

    Just to let everyone know, I might not be able to host any gaming tournaments because of a last minute family event that I have to attend to. Ill see what day would work in the meantime but most likely i would have to host next week.
    It's possible to have an encore night on the next weekend.

    Bored so I'll start on CSS, but it's raining so uhh.

    So, it turns out that I won't be gone as long as I expected to, so i'll still be able to host DOTA 2 and League of Legends. As for now these are my only games I plan on hosting but I might throw in CoD Black Ops 2, just because CoD is a popular franchise.

    For DOTA 2 i'll host it on Sunday from 10 AM to 4 PM PST.
    For League of Legends i'll host it on Monday from 11 AM to 5 PM PST.
    (too lazy to do conversions)

    I'll try to host it earlier if possible but I have been sleeping in a lot lately so...

    @twilightblade
    Once you decide on a day, i'll help you host BL2.

    Description thingy:

    The Protoss fight to survive.
    The Terrans fight for dominance.
    The Zerg fight to devour all.
    Which race will you choose?

    Basically, this is a real-time strategy game where you will have to build a base and army in order to annihilate your opponents. Plan how to use your resources carefully, there's only so much you can gather before your opponents strike!

    For those who do not own the game:
    You will have to do a few things before starting:
    - Create a battle.net account (it's a large download... it may take overnight)
    - Download and install the Starter Edition of Starcraft II
    - Once installed, log into the game with your battle.net account.

    Unfortunately for Starter Edition users, the modes you can access will be extremely limited. However, there is a workaround for this! DO THESE STEPS AHEAD OF TIME PLEASE.
    - On the bottom of the right-hand side of your screen will be an icon that has a bubble that says Friend List.
    - Click on the icon and click on the Add Friend button. Then click on the Character Friend button.
    - Into the appropriate areas, punch in Griffinbane and 524. That's my character name and code.
    - VM me your character name and code. I'll need your information in order to see you on my screen.

    Once these steps are completed, just show up on the appropriate time! I'll see you on my friend list and pull you into a party, so that you can play all the wonderful things that is now unlocked for you!

    Note: What you access depends on which mode we play. In Wings of Liberty mode, everything is unlocked. In Heart of the Swarm mode, Zerg and Protoss will remain locked. If you don't mind being Terran, or if you really want to see the content that doesn't exist in WoL, we'll be sticking to HotS mode. If you want to play as one of the other two races, I'll switch to WoL mode.

    For those with the game:
    Just add Griffinbane, code 524, to your friend list. A note to those without the expansion, you will also be limited to just Terran if we select HotS mode. You'll also have to decide which is more enticing: new content or Zerg/Protoss.

    Help! I'm new to the game!
    Don't know how to play? Don't worry! I'm happy to help you learn how to play in Player vs AI sessions.

    Well for my event I'm planning to do L4D2 at the times previously mentioned. Monday 4pm PST until people get bored.

    I made a banner, but I can't get the image to look as good as I would have hoped so if you want to take a whack at it feel free.

    @TwilightBlade
    I used your template to create CSS for info for the DOTA 2 and League of Legends gaming event. I don't know if it's going to be needed or not though.

    I'm not picky, so I randomly made Borderlands day as Saturday. I don't have any plans lined up this weekend.

    @CSS
    Hot stuff so far. I'm still bouncing thread/css ideas around in my head. What I'm thinking is that console and less popular PC games can go in a general thread while popular&free PC games can have a separate thread. It'll get people interested in downloading the game. I don't want toooo many individual threads though (Team Fortress 2, Starcraft II, LoL, DOTA2) as video games shouldn't dominate the GT forum. Pick 2? I know Griff is comfortable with flying solo.

    @emblems
    Yus I made the starcraft emblem. Shoot other emblem ideas at me if you want.

    Loved the OP, TBlade, it looks very good.

    Do you think it would be okay if I posted in the actual event thread offering anyone to hit me up for a game on either Forza/NBA/PES at any point over the weekend? Obviously it would give more chance for people to receive an emblem and it doesn't cause much inconvenience to me as it would only need to be a few short games.

    I'm just thinking as the L4D2 event itself might not be too popular.
