Disclaimer: Story, rules and player expectations are subject to change as I flesh things out and receive feedback/ideas.
A virtual reality MMORPG has taken the world by storm. Your consciousness becomes one with the system as you transform into a Pokémon of your choice, taking on their strengths and weaknesses, battling other players, completing quests, and exploring dungeons for various rewards! Players work their way up to unlock skills, new locations and the ability to evolve, but even the lowliest Pokémon can become a formidable threat with enough experience and the right items. After all, your talents and personality as a human affect you here, too. Unfortunately, not everyone plays fairly. It's a good thing Porygon are there to maintain the balance and safety of the world.
But now, everything is falling apart. A mysterious and elusive malware, code-named "Missing No.", has infected the system, turning AI hostile towards players as it views THEM as the virus.
Worst of all, various pockets of the world have turned dangerously glitched, and players who were in these locations at the time of glitching are now trapped there. Not just within the virtual reality--their consciousness is trapped there too, leaving their human bodies in a comatose state. These places have come to be known as "Mystery Dungeons". They defy the rules and logic of the in-game world. The AI within them are particularly aggressive.
The Porygon are working frantically to isolate Missing No. and prevent these viruses from spreading, but must disable parts of the system -- namely the Mystery Dungeons -- to achieve this. However, there have been real-world consequences, even fatal seizures, as a result of eradicating these dungeons while people are trapped inside, so it was deemed too dangerous to shut everything down.
This is where you come in.
The RP will begin as a short, single-dungeon campaign as a trial run! Since you are required to work together, my hope is that by the end of it, you'll have enough camaraderie and interest to make it a full RP.
For the trial run, here's how things work:
If the RP takes off I would like to expand it and allow more freedom in who you are and what you do--as in, you could be a middle-schooler who just signed up, or a seasoned veteran, or a troll... anything you like! You can also shift between the human side of your story, and the Pokémon side.
If this happens, there will be two versions of the RP:

- You're a small group of specialists tasked with a search-and-rescue operation. It's your first time exploring a Mystery Dungeon.
- You can be any non-Legendary Pokémon you want. Think about how you will benefit the team.
- It's perfectly okay if you've never played Pokémon Mystery Dungeon before!
- The campaign will consist of traversing a single Mystery Dungeon in order to rescue the daughter of one of the lead developers and the two friends she was with.
- There will be limited mechanics! When you sign up, you will assign a set number of points to character attributes (like strength, agility, charisma etc.).
- These points will add slight modifiers to dice rolls.
- The Pokémon you choose will have an influence on your attributes as well. For example, a Snorlax will start with low dexterity.
- Dice rolls will determine some aspects of the narrative as you progress and what actions you can take.
- However, it'll be a narrative approach: you will write together as normal while I oversee things and decide when to roll the die, based on your writing.
- I may throw situations at you that will require dice rolls to determine the outcome. To keep you on your toes.
- As the game master I will set the initial scene for you, which will change between floors.
- It's all a bit corny and cliché written down; you as the players will determine how serious you wanna make it. Just roll with it and have fun.
- Rated M for light battle violence and the fact people can die. (No graphic content is allowed and please tone down swearing).

- the main story, where you must be willing to joint-post with other players and keep up as things progress.
- a sandbox mode, where you can do pretty much whatever you want, but I will offer quests, prompts and rewards to give some sense of direction. You can hop in and out of the RP whenever you want in this version, just be mindful of other players if you're collaborating.
