That's Michael's ride? A scooter? Wes has a futuristic motorbike. Michael never stood a chance.
To Michael's credit, it does become a hovercraft... hoverscooter? Idk. Still not as cool, but it's an upgrade.

Shame we can't include Rui in here, best walking plot hook

While Wes undoubtedly has the cooler design, it always felt wrong to me for the protagonist to be a former Team Snagem member. Plus, I played XD before Colosseum, and enjoyed it more, so I have more attachment to Michael. I'm going to have to go against everyone else's choice here and cast Michael's first vote.
I'd argue that Wes being an ex-Snagem member makes sense because it gives him personal stakes.
It wouldn't work in the usual 8 gym Pokemon game setup for multiple reasons, but Colosseum is rather unique and has a more story-driven dynamic that makes Wes's backstory a part of his character instead of edgy cool guy points.

Voting for Wes.

He's by far the best male protagonist in the entire franchise. He's older, looks cool (definitely not bland like the majority of other male protagonists,) has an awesome motorbike, and the first thing he does in-game is blow up the headquarters of his former employer.

Doesn't get more badass than that.

Belatedly announcing that Wes was the strong winner here. Twitter and Google Forms were much less one-sided, but he still won on each poll.

Next week: Kalos! We're going to bend the rules a touch and treat the brand new protags as from a separate place - it'll be unfair on them to go against much more established characters, so they will have their own poll. (But if you object to that, let me know!)
