Turtwig was awesome when it first became torterra. But after I got past Lvl 50 other pokemon at equal levels gave it trouble. Chimchar is the best in the long run like every other fire starter.

My favourite-starter is Turtwig. I think you can beat the game with it easiest. And I like Torterra much more than Infernape and Empoleon. (Grass-Ground)
Chimchar isn´t bad, too, but it looks a little bit silly in my opinion. And Piplup is a Water Type... There´re enough other Water Pokemon and I think, Buizel is even stronger than it.
So i voted for Turtwig^^

There aren't many good fire pokemon before the elite 4 unless you trade. So chimchar is much more useful. Because we all know rapidash just doesn't cut it. Its fighting type helps too. I you want a water type you can always just a get a gyarados.

To be honest I do not like any of the starters in this game very much, but I always go with the fire starter so I am going to have to vote Chimchar.

Pochama for its cuteness definitely won me over the first time around. It was pretty handy to have in the team too...

Second go, I went for Chimchar/Hikozaru... it's apparently as good as Blaziken was so that'll probably be the best attacking starter in D/P.
