Turtwig --> Torterra, he's a tanker!
 
In terms of both battle and looks Chimchar takes the win. Infernape is a total beast and one of the most unpredictable sweepers in the game. By the time you know what set your opponent is using, he/she will already have fainted or dealt high damage to one of your Pokémon or will have doubled Infernape's Attack or Sp.Attack, making it extremely deadly. Torterra is good too, but it's too easily defeated by Ice attacks and Empoleon isn't bad, either, but it doesn't have a high enough Speed or Attack/Sp.Attack to compensate for the big amount of common weaknesses the Steel type gives it. Two Close Combats from [INSERT GOOD FIGHTING TYPE HERE] will already take it down, and and so will two Earthquakes from almost any physical attacker.

All of the Sinnoh starters are good, but Infernape is simply better than the other two. =P
 
Although Turtwig made early game easy and was a badass upon evolving to Torterra . . . I still have to go with Chimchar on this one.
 
Ide have to say that chimchar has to be the best starter because alot of trainers have bronzong and those r kinda tough with turtwig.
 
Having trained Chimcar and Turtwig . . . I have to vote for Chimcar for the overall game (only if you evolve him all the way of course)
 
CHIMCHAR rules, he has the best attacks! I espescialy like his FLARE BLITZ,and FOCUS BLAST attacks! CHIMCHAR-INFERNAPE is the best starter in Sinnoh.
 
My favorite is turtwig because torterra looks awesome, but in the long run the best is chimchar.

Noob means that ur basicly a begginer andnot very good at anything
 
Chimchar owns both cuz it is strong against Turtwig and later in the evolution stage of piplup it will become partially steel, which fire is strong against.

Chimchar and Turtwig evenly. There is just an abundance of water type pokemon. Ponyta/Rapidash is the only other fire pkoemon in the game without trading and pre-National Dex (I think).

There are only a few grass too that i can think of. Budew/Roselia/Roserade, Carnavine, Cherrim

Doesn't make sense to take a water over a rare grass and fire pokemon. Chimchars fighting hurt it more than it helps it since it brings too many weaknesses.

I can tell you for a fact that in all the other pokemon games in the long run water was best. Water always did well in the beginning gyms and by the time you were at the gyms such as plant or electricity your pokemon was such a high lvl that type advantage didnt even matter.
