In the anime trainers are seen keeping Pokemon out of their Pokeballs at all times. Besides Pikachu, we had Misty with Togepi (later Azurill), Dawn with Piplup (though not always), Iris with Axew and Dedenne. It's very cute to see. Serena doesn't seem to keep any Pokemon out of their Pokeballs at all times, and May never did, either.

Which one of the walking Pokemon did you like best?
How did you feel about Serena not doing this at all?
Would you like to see this tidbit to return in the Alola saga?

I like to see Pokemon coming out of Pokeballs a little bit more than ones walking with trainers since it's supposed to be one of the signature aspects of the show and games. It made the most sense for Meowth since he's supposed to be more like the 3rd Team Rocket member rather than their Pokemon. I could see it being a little more present in Sun and Moon because of the lighter approach it appears to have and the lower emphasis on battling. If Ash's mom is going to be a regular in the series than I'm guessing Mr. Mime will be seen walking with her at most times.
