6th Gen Wardrobe/Customization & Hair Options Discussion

I just realized this:

If player customization doesn't return, and assuming PSS will return (which is quite likely, unless Gamefreak doesn't want any XY-ORAS relationships), I wonder how would people react when seeing 10 Brendans or 25 Mays.

There would probably be a new system to help distinguish people, but I mean you can still see their usernames, so it wouldn't be that confusing. Customization wouldn't be brought back for that purpose, haha d:

However, why would they need NPC like characters to represent your pals instead of Having your secret pals in the clothing they bought? I don't. Think character customization is returning

^
Omg yes, being able to wear team magma uniforms would be so epic!

I wish there was an option to get rid of my hat/bandana/bag and more hat options like a beanie or snapback. Also would love it if they provided more hair styles, dyes, different types of shoes like boots/heels/wedges. Definitely more clothes for males and females.

Having the bag always on their person though makes sense as they're always carrying their bags. Maybe for wi-fi battles they can vanish as there'll be no need for them then as we can use items there ;).

Another set of info from CoroCoro, and still no sign of character customization. In XY, it was revealed alongside with the official artwork of the protagonists, but this wasn't the case in ORAS with Brendan and May.

Yeah, it's starting to seem like we may not be getting any for these games. Maybe customization will be one of those things that stay exclusive for the Kalos games like the above ground Secret Bases are for Hoenn. Well, I hope that's not the case as it'll mean no customization in the future either >_<.

Actually I wouldn't mind the lack of customization in ORAS, considering that Brendan and May had one of the most unique outfits in the series.

I mean really, which character has white hair?

I would at least hope for some different color for the outfit. I wonder how may could end up wearing her new design clothes but in blue or green.

I would love to see that too. Same with Brendan, but mostly with May. If that happens I may actually pick May (it's been five years since I last played a female MC (Dawn in Pt) anyways) over Brendan, imagining them as Sapphire and Ruby from the manga :3

I'll be disappointed if they don't have trainer customzation, but I won't be too upset,
as Brendan is STILL my favorite playable male trainer.

EDITED IN:
Is the white part on his head part of his hat, or is it really his hair?

The secret bases should be a dead give away that customization isn't coming back as none of those secret pals are Brenden and May in different clothing, unless ofcouse those are really NPCs but I doubt it. We already know about trainer customization, so if it were to return, they wouldn't need to hide it.[S-HIGHLIGHT][/S-HIGHLIGHT]W

Maybe they prefer to show new stuff before showing up customisation, I think they prefer to show off the revamped stuff before showing the more recent play customisation.

Theres a mega evolution scoop for the next issue, they could add player customisation with it and add some more pokemon contest content with it.

Or maybe GF is still working on customization, or may end up doing an update for customization in the future. Or perhaps they'll have customization be post game only to make one feel nostalgia for the days without customization.

If they do remove it, I hope they can atleast change the colors of the outfits, or allow us to get the RS or E outfits.

That'll sort of mean they didn't completely remove it though. If they completely remove it I don't see that being an option either :(

Slowly I am losing hope that this feature will return. I really hope it does though. But the main reason for this, might be because they have to make all new clothing because it is a different region, but who knows.

I don't think that's a good reason for why they wouldn't add customization in. I mean they already have the vast majority of the work done for them by making X/Y. I think a lot of interesting polish will be added in these remakes and I am very certain clothing customization will be a part of that.

Top reasons why:

1) The Pikachu clothing. Shows me they are adding layers onto the base model and tweaking as needed. Seems a simple stretch to do that with the PCs.

2) In Gen IV, contests introduced a clothing change for the protagonist. I see this as being something they will almost certainly retroactively apply. If they give us contest clothing for our character's it makes sense that clothing customization would be part and parcel.

3) The game has basically 4 months until release. GF has always been good (or notorious, depends on your POV) about trickling info out over the time period between announcement and release.

4) It makes no sense not to carry this feature forward now that all games will be rendered in 3D. I know GF has a spotty record of carrying features through from one game to the next, but this is a foundational thing that will have a long life ahead of it. It is probably one of the most popular features in X and Y, even as limited as it is.

Only time will tell if I'm right or wrong, but I'm leaning in the positive direction on this one. If they didn't include it in the game, then I honestly don't understand their game design philosophy at all. It would have to look like: one step forward, two steps back, one step sideways, 2 bunny hops forward, ok I'm going to lay down because I'm exhausted.

Don't forget our characters in gen 5 in B2W2 wore different outfits for pokestar studio even if we didn't saw them in the overworld they still had different battle sprites.

I'd really like there to be an option to take off hats. This is what they lacked in X and Y, and it made seem customization sort of limiting, to some degree.

I don't think they'll do that. It's sort of a tradition for the protagonist to wear headgear, hence why they probably didn't allow us to remove them in XY. Only time the protagonists didn't wear head gear irc is when they're acting in Pokestar studios (with Nate being the one seen more without his headgear).
