Well my last team here did terrible at the tourny AND wifi, let's try again...

Well Tyranitar is just going to sweep your team then. That's going to be bad news.

Your Tyranitar weakness is REALLY bad, so an offensive machamp isn't really going to help. You just need a Tyranitar counter...really badly. Machamp is powerful, but you need a rock resist a bit more now.

hmmmm..what about bronzong? Also, aren't there other fighting types that are as bulky as machamp that do the job??

And BTW, are you talking about the dragon dance variant? Because i've seen tyranitars shooting ice beams to crunches to even using a sub punching combo =/ the thing's unpredictable but im usually in a situation where i can deal with it...beleive it or not...

You have no safe switch on CBtar, who eats Tangrowth alive and really hurts Salamence. Stone Edge KOs your team.

Machamp is one of the best resttalking fighters around (if that means anything). It's about as close to an all-around Tyranitar counter as you're going to find.

EDIT: Bronzong is really unreliable to be honest. It gets manhandled by the Choice Bander.

CBtar...how many variants of that thing are around X-X im surprised people aren't complaining about that like they are garchomp *hides under a rock before the flames come*

But alright...ill try Restalk machamp. But if it doesn't work ill try some other variants i came up with machamp to suit my team. Either way, i feel the progress i've made with my team is just amazing...thanks alot =)

Theres always Hariyama, if you dont want Machamp, its more utility based though, whilst Machamp runs a better Rest-Talk set, so its up to you.

Whilst tar is a force, it can be countered.

My suggestions, Lucario, Gliscor and Machamp all are good Tyranitar counters, Lucario with its 4x resistance to Rock and Dark, Machamp with a 2x resistance to Rock and Dark but it doesn't have a weakness to Earthquake, and Gliscor has great defenses and can earn itself a resistance to Rock by using Roost.

Luke and Gliscor could work...moreso luke because gliscor would make 1/2 of my team weak to ice...too much for snorlax to handle.

Lucario's weaknesses IMO are covered here. Fire by snorlax/starmie and inernape, ground by tangrowth and salamence, and fighting with salamence, starmie, and well tangrowth because he's a wall lol.

Though should i make him special, physical, or mixed...and would he be better then machamp??

Honestly I've never found Lucario a very good solution for Tyranitar. The DDer with crush it and the CBer can use Earthquake to waste it. You can predict around it, but you are playing with fire against one of the most powerful pokemon in the game.

If you use Gliscor, use it over Salamence as they cover the same things. Gliscor is good against Tyranitar, just watch out for Ice Beam which is growing more common.

And of course Machamp works. I'd recommend either Gliscor or Machamp. Lucario...I'm not a big fan of relying on that thing to beat Tyranitar when it's fragile and is a very shaky switch-in as it is (in my opinion). When I use CB Tyranitar, I always Earthquake first to hit Machamp and especially Lucario harder. I just don't think the risk (Lucario dying and a potential Tyranitar sweep) is worth the reward (forcing TTar to switch out).

Actually Champ and Luke are two different things, they take different stuff on. I recommended Champ because it would cover the Weavile weakness and provide a RestTalker.

I think I recommended BulkyMence, not sure. Both BulkyMence and Gliscor arguably do the same job, so you should be fine.

Mamoswine is an issue but it is covered by Celebi I mentioned earlier, Champ can take it on with Reflect support and it can't come in on any of your pokemon except BulkyMence.

A little offtopic, but I find that Bold Celebis are ubiquitous on Smogon, and I think there is a good Relaxed one too.

Edit: Vacuum Wave Anti, Vacuum Wave

the thing i dont understand is with the CBer wouldnt luke be fatser then ttar i mean i wouldnt switch IN luke unless i KNOW he was going to crunch or whatever wheras if i know he's banded it'd be easier to predict...but i can understand the dragon dancing one...i dunno...

i actually dont want to remove bulkymence. I like it, and i dont think people know about it much..who came up with it anyway??

Bulky mence is spammed on PC just so you know.

Seriously, using both Gliscor and Salamence is silly. If you want to keep Salamence, that pretty much leaves Gliscor and Lucario. And Lucario...

Speaking of which, choice Band variants carry Earthquake which will easily knock Lucario out in one hit. Boah KOs it with Focus Punch or even Flamethrower if it has it. DDtar DDs and KOs with Earthquake (unless you runs Specs with Vacuum Wave or something, and with SS boosting SADef I wonder if that would even KO). And what if it predicts your switch the next time and uses Earthquake right away? Scarf Tar KOs it with Fire Blast or whatever fire move it carries. Generally it just isn't a reliable counter. It's a decent switch in on the choice bander, but man does it get murdered by everything else. Machamp beats all of those sets and Gliscor beats anything without Ice Beam very efficiently. If you keep Mence, IMO your only good option left is Machamp.

Maybe it's my conservative nature here, but I really can't recommend Lucario as your only coverage of probably the most powerful choice bander in standard play.

alright, ill leave machamp in here...basically because you gave excellent reasoning to keep it in.

personally,i prefer curselax, that thing is like a fat death machine fully equpieed with thick fat and a huge belly plus sharp fangs...XDXDXDXDDXD....w/e

Snorlax @ Leftovers
Ev:252def/252att/6
adamant
Crunch
Body Slam
Rest / you can stick anythign in here,
Curse

Personally im not a big fan of curse...it takes too long to set up nicely for my taste.

If anything i'd stick in Belly drum over sleep talk with a lum berry but even then it's not that great =/

Ain't Snorlax a special wall? After 2 Curses, i's able to amazingly achieve the impossible...fall to any number of physical attacks. It is easy to wipe out.

BulkyMence I think was thought of by Aldaron on Smogon, the original concept was developed way back in ADV when Salamence only had Wish.

Anyway Gliscor is probably your best bet for Tar, Machamp should be able to take on most variants. Lucario's Vacuum Wave OHKOs standard Tar, and does 71% min to 252 HP/252 SpD Careful Tars (which is not common at all). Run Modest and Specs, Lucario is a great sweeper with Specs able to beat Blissey and other common special walls.

And Curselax is outdated, what with Close Combat and all the powerful physical moves, and that Snorlax usually has no time to setup Curse / unable to sweep with it. I would only recommend it in Trick Room and for a different purpose, but for your needs RestTalkLax is better.

I see, yea i played DP before i played the advance games and ive learned how important they are to DP themselves lol.

Really im NOT so sure about using BOTH gliscor AND bulkymence(or salamence for that matter) on the same team. My team is then basically saying "Boltbeam me!!" So i dunno...i jus got done breeding a good Jolly bagon too if i take it out =/

Honestly, im in shock im doing so much to my team in the case of a single pokemon ive never had trouble with- Tyranitar. Lolz...just saying =P

Oh and rest-talk lax wins me games...snorlax FTW!!

Yeah pretty much what Aquilae said.

Reiterating that Curselax is more outdated than Donphan which is saying something.

Alright, well, the team looks pretty solid then =) (With the exception of a x3 weakness to flying...but i dont think that's such a BIG deal...)

I have another tourny at the same place this saturday, so ill get my team together, train em up, and tell you guys how i did =)
