Is there a good game-dev roadmap to follow?

(for example: how much content should be pre-planned vs how much should be developed along the way? What are some common pitfalls? Are there efficient methods of development that will save me time/headaches? What should be left toward the end? etc. )

I'm no expert, but the main pitfalls is giving up mid-way, or making plans that take too long to finish.
if you're new, consider joining a team. so you'll have someone to ask, and get feedback from.

I recommend you to join us into Discord Channel too. :) This way you can ask for help, opinions, share your project, etc. :D
