5th Gen What is the best and worst parts about 5th gen?

Good parts?
-The plot wasn't too bad.
-It introduced reusable TMs
-Most of it's set of mons aren't as bad as people say
-The characters were decent enough.

Bad parts?
-BW2 can be really annoying to Nuzlocke, especially if you get unlucky with encounters.
-Wasn't as memorable as the other games
-Zekrom is overrated af and I prefer Reshiram waaaaay more :3

So 4 plus points over 2 minus points, so it looks like this generation wasn't bad for me.

This is only about BW:

The Good:
  • Amazing design and UI update
  • Introduced constantly moving sprites in battle, very awesome
  • Had an incredible story that really makes you think about your relationship with Pokémon and the good and bad of being a trainer
  • N; his story really touched me and the 'rivalry' with him made the conclusion so epic (the appearance of the title legend is one of my favourite moments in all of Pokémon)
  • A+++ music score
  • Reusable TMs
  • Multiple key items
  • Audino (for all your grinding needs)
  • Gym leaders relevant to the storyline
  • Version exclusivity that went further than differences in available Pokémon
  • They had the balls to include only the new Pokémon in the main game, I really liked that
  • Overall a very nice feel

The Bad:
  • Noticeable lag when a Pokémon appears at times
  • I felt like the exclusives made the games a bit too monotone; they could've mixed up White Forest and Black City for instance to give the games more balance
  • Wi-Fi Connection is gone forever :(
  • All the cool version exclusives are on White (personal pet peeve)
  • A meh postgame (BW2 did this much better)
  • Migration requires two DS systems
  • Difficult to level up in the postgame
  • Not as memorable as Diamond and Pearl I'm afraid

Good stuff:
Memorable Characters
Integration of Gym leaders into the story
Pokemon
Amazing story
Good soundtrack

Bad Stuff:
Graphical style was flawed at times (was still pretty good though)
A lot of the Pokemon designs take a while to get used to
Bianca got kinda annoying

Good

1. Amazing Story
2. Gym leaders actually do something
3. 150+ Pokemon
4. Good OST
5. TMs being reusable
6. Serperior

Bad

1. Lackluster post game
2. No battle frontier! :(
3. No gym leader rematches
4. Wi-FI is gone forever
5. Some sprites of the older Pokemon were...meh

Good:
It was a Pokemon game - I guess that's a pro.

Bad:
In battle graphics were appalling, looked like we moved back to gen I.

I don't really have any further pros or cons because the graphics turned me off the game so much I never finished.

Do I have to pick one? The best and the worst thing about gen 5 as a whole?

The Best: The best narrative (story and characters) the main series has ever had.

The Worst: BW's lackluster post-game. But B2W2 fixed this so everything's fine.

I wouldn't really consider the lack of wi-fi a flaw, to be honest. I mean, it's saddening, yes. But as systems get older and people move on to newer systems, their wi-fi services will cease. That's not gen 5's fault.

2. Gym leaders actually do something

Huh! Whaddaya mean??

To me, everything was amazing in the game, all but the sprites of your pokes in battles and the lack of crisp animations for moves.
All in all, bw and b2w2 were great, with cool storylines and good post game content. The in game music was very pleasant and I loved Bianca's character in bw.

By that I meant they actually do something related to the plot, in this game they help you fight against Team Plasma. They also do other things along the game's story.

That's such a good thing about these games. That never really happened much in previous games, or even in future games in comparison (who are half the gym leaders post-Unova???) It's something that people can't really hate on in regards to these games, like compared to everything else people complain about they can't really complain about the gym leaders actually deserving their titles! I mean in regards to a defending Unova sense lol

My best part is the story focus, but also introducing memorable characters like N and Ghetsis. I also love how the Gym Leaders do stuff outside of their Gyms as well, making them actually have character to them.

Worst part? It's the goddamned scaled EXP system and probably the lackluster postgame in B/W. Thankfully B2/W2 fixed that.
