Music What is your favorite genre?

I can't stray too far from hip-hop at the moment. It's just really, really, really, really good right now. There are so many artists out there who are just knocking project after project out of the park like Kendrick Lamar, Mac Miller, J Cole (I'm not a massive fan of his but whatever I have to admit he's pretty damned good), Schoolboy Q, A$AP Rocky etc.. Along with that you have mainstream figures like Drake, Kanye and Tyler, the Creator (his persona more than his music, but still). You've got so many people on the come-up too like Vince Staples, Travis Scott, Danny Brown,The Internet, Denzel Curry, Mr Mfn Exquire, Rae Sremmurd, Vic Mensa, Mick Jenkins... I'd even say Chance the Rapper is still on the rise. I seen Bishop Nehru live on Tuesday night and he absolutely killed it. You've got the new mumble rap sub genre with huge stars in the making like Lil Yachty, 21 Savage, Kodak Black and Lil Uzi Vert, with Yachty and Uzi being especially marketable. Even the grime scene in the UK is really popping right now with Skepta, JME, Stormzy, Yungen, Chipmunk and Devilman all making bangers right now, and then still in the UK you have their own hip-hop scene with great, under-appreciated artists like Strange U and Jehst in that genre. You even have the new and weird (and awesome) experimental hip-hop community too being stood up by Yung Lean, Bladee, Kool AD, Baro, Death Grips, OG Swaggerdick, Open Mike Eagle and I'd put Kid Cudi in this category too. FINALLY; who can forget the GOAT? LIL B THE BASED GOD!!!

tl;dr hip hop is great

My tastes usually range out in the rock and metal spectrums, mostly falling somewhere in between "Progressive Rock" to "Death/Extreme/Goth Metal" and much in between. But don't get me wrong; I don't go for much music that's branded as cliché or mainstream, as I'd rather find my own tastes (the closest I've ebbed to the idea is Coheed and Cambria, as in that one band from Rock Band that wrote that one song called "Welcome Home" that was utilized to near-death).

But I've been treading on outside genres as well, like the works of Gorillaz, Daft Punk (-ish), and video-game OSTs.

I like pop and electronic songs the best--not sure if electronic is the right genre, but I like songs that have long periods of cool-sounding... er, sounds? Can't think of an example haha.

I like music of all genres. But recently I have been enjoying K-Pop more than anything. I listen to J-Pop as well. It really just depends on how the song sounds.

I couldn't give you a single favorite genre. However, what I consider my favorite genres are these (in no particular order):

British Folk/Folk Rock
Progressive Rock
Psychedelic Rock
Brass Rock (Usually classified as 'Jazz Rock', but to me I think it's more rock with a splash of jazz elements)
Soft Rock (from the 70s)
Soul/R&B (60s/70s)

And, classical, too, which I have to subdivide, too!

Early Music
Baroque
Classic
French Impressionism

I've been getting into power metal lately.

New Retro Wave.

Neon soaked synths, big blasts from plugged 808s, slamming wooden blocks, plucked guitars, vibrating electricity, dark reverberating drums and thick, juicy wet bass. Some of it raw, most of it robotic, trans-hypnotic super voodoo power. If it's sticky and sweet and leaves you wanting more than your fair share, it's probably something I listen to.

I love so much power being dumped into the amplifiers that you can feel the problems it's causing to your spine, heart, and vital organs. Here's some of the stuff I put together. Take a gander and tell me what you think!
