4th Gen What keeps you training?

LOL screw training

I just clone my pokes and trade on the gts.

...Although it does take a few tries :/

It's fun lol and I have nothing better to do than train'em xD Every Pokémon I catch is raised to the same level as the stronger ones so I have variety :< It's a time-eater.

Do you want me to get sentimental?

Well, in my state, most of the Pokemon fanbase disappeared after the 1st generation. Majority of the fanbase now is the few older fans that stuck around and the ones that got into it during the DPPt period. So, when I do run into someone who's my age and still plays, most of the time, they're using an Action Replay to get that far, get all the Pokemon, get Rare Candies, and so on. It's annoying, and I like to have some real work to show off. Yeah, I carry my DS and SP and all my games around everywhere I go. Even school (though no one plays there). I do regret not having my DS when I was in Orange Beach and met a guy who was my age and using an AR for shinies and level 100s. It really pisses me off. So, to conclude what I'm saying, I train because the fanbase in my state (even the young ones) cheat, lie, and don't know jack crap about Pokemon like I do. And it's eeeeeven funnier because I'mma gurl<3 I win.

The reason i keep training is because i know that even the weakest little rattatta can be a superstar. I used to cheat but then i discovered that there are better ways to train such as work with one team at a time and gradually work your way up. i have a lot of level 100s. I get very attached to my pokemon. plus i love to whoop people in wi fi battles.

I think it's incredibly fun to try to make my pokemon as strong as they can be. Probably the main thing that keeps me training is the idea of competing in another live video game contest (I have played in a live video game competition before and it was a BLAST!), and I definitely want my team to be ready if another opportunity like that arises again. That's another reason why I don't use hacks--so that live battles against friends and wi-fi battles will be fair.

Also, I've been training pokemon for 13 years now. It's just something I do that I love! You will never find me anywhere without my DS and my Diamond and Platinum versions. And just trying to learn new things and make my team better is really fun for me. So that's why I keep spending all these hours and hours training. ^_^

Like a few people above, I've been playing Pokemon since Generation I, and not many of my friends have stayed with it. Now I see little kids who got into it during Generation III or IV, and half of them are insufferable little twinks who powerlevel and EV train and use all sorts of dodgy tricks. Many cheat. Many others just trade for level 100 Pokemon that were trained by someone else.

The reason I keep training (other than the fact that I enjoy watching a level 5 Charmander become a level 100 Charizard) is for honour - the honour of the few scattered Generation I trainers still battling away out there. I've never cheated in a Pokemon game, never used AR to catch an event Pokemon (or any other), never used the Missingno Glitch or the Mew Glitch. I caught all my Pokemon myself (and traded for the ones I couldn't), and I trained them the old-fashioned way: battling.

It's not as fast or efficient as cheating, but unlike all the new trainers out there with their level 100 shiny EV'd Arceus's that they got pre-trained by someone else, I can say that my level 54 Infernape was properly trained, by me.

Yeah, that's an important reason. I feel what you want to say.
And I train to evolve my Pokémon, to complete the dex of course.

I train because I actually enjoy raising the pokemon that I spend time EV training, and it's fun using them to beat the in-game trainers. I also train them for battling although I've only done like three battles so far, all with my cousin.
