I don't listen to Japanese music.

Moonlight Legend ~ Sailor Moon ~ Japanese Theme Tune <3

I listen to the deathnote bands Nightmare and Maximum the hormone =D

Mostly J-pop associated with anime (not necessarily the OP/ED but also music featured in the program). Ayako Kawasumi has done several that I like, including composing the opening piece for Piano.

c'mon y'all. this j-pop/j-rock anime stuff is all well and good if that's what you dig, but nobody's into the huge japanoise/experimental/jazz/rock stuff? some of the world's most cutting edge musicians are from japan. check it:

mono (very cinematic instrumental post-rock, gorgeous gorgeous)
merzbow (harsh noise/experimental/extreme)
fushitsusha/keiji haino (noise/experimental/rock)
Les Rallizes Dénudés (noise/experimental/rock)

ACID MOTHERS TEMPLE (all you classic rock led zeppelin pink floyd dudes better check this out, 1000x more psychedelic than all of that)

Boris (probably my favorite metal/doom band, cool stuff, variety of styles)

GROUND-ZERO/Otomo Yoshihide (great experimental/noise/free jazz)

but the greatest of all of these is a little osaka band known as BOREDOMS!

everyone should hear their albums VISION CREATION NEWSUN and SUPER AE. look those up. essential, mindblowing, avant-garde, everything. you'll never look at rock music the same again.

BOREDOMS!

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni stuff. Nuf said

I like Utada Hikaru, Mika Nakashima, L'Arc~en~Ciel, THE BACK HORN...but my favorite lately has been Ayumi Hamasaki! Her lyrics are so poignant and her music is well-composed (even the ones she composed herself are really good).

Pretty much like Pop, R&B, and some rock. Like I love to listen to Utada Hikaru, Nami Tamaki, Namie Amuro, m-flo, Sowelu, Yuna Ito, T.M. Revolution, HMK, UVERworld, FLOW, BoA, SOUL'd OUT, and Heartsdales. These guys are the best. <3

I like to listen to lots of stuff, usually anime. =D

My favourites songs are probably from:

  • Aya Hirano
  • KOTOKO
  • Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu
  • Hayate no Gotoku!
  • Horie Yui
  • Lucky Star
  • etc.
Yeah, I likes a lot of songs. Usually they all relate to anime, but I've been trying to find more J-Pop songs but fail in the process.

Oh, and takeharu ishimoto for all you Final fantasy fans ;).

Just Japanese video game soundtracks, which is about all they're good at making imo. Just random tracks I like from random games, so there aren't any specific artists I go for.
The opening of 'What's up People' by Maximum the Hormone is funny/cool/wtf though.
