It's so fun to nickname pokemon. ^__^

On my Platinum file, I have:

Torterra - Naoki
Lapras - Tsunami
Arcanine - Hikaru
Dragonite - Tsuyu
Electivire - Kakiiro
Cresselia - Hanami
 
My Electivire was named "ElectObama" for a while, it sparked chuckles for many of my matches over wifi.
My Drifblim's named "Spiritdaway" After the Miyazaki movie
My Metagross is named "Shinkansen" after the Bullet Train, because it has Bullet Punch(yeah, bad joke)

I usually name all my competitive pokemon, but those were the best I could think of on the top of my head.
 
These are some of my more recent ones:
Fushimaru
Glimaru
Battoko
Kameko
Youma-dono

I now have a tendency to end the names with -maru if it's a male, -ko if it's a female, or random suffixes if it has no gender... Don't ask me why. >.>

I also like to name some of them after random internet memes, anime characters, or just silly things in general. Some of my favorites are:
Chi-chi-chia
Excalibur
Sassypants
Twinkletoes
Cuban Pete
ORLY?
Nyoro~n
IAmABanana
 
On Pearl, I'm naming every Pokemon depending on the first letter in their name:
Bob the Bidoof
Sean the Shinx
Etc.
I thought it would be funny, and it is XD
 
Lol I just Pick a letter (ex. J) then i think.... hmm what to say with that letter (ex. Jiko -male- Junni -female-) lol and I name my pokemon when I like them
 
I give my Pokemon names that reflect deeper meaning, like my Gardevoir and Gallade- "Zenith" and "Nadir" respectively. This reflects the serene nature of the Gardevoir (Zenith- the paragon of good) and the somewhat more aggressive nature of the Gallade (Nadir- the paragon of evil/dark). Sort of like Yin and Yang. What's important in a nickname is that they mean something to you personally, it reflects your preferences and opinions, and it shouldn't matter if nobody else understands them.

Plus, they sound cool in a Double Battle. :P
 
I used to give mine nicknames all the time, but since I started Platinum, I haven't bothered.

However, in my Fire Red version, I let my friends nickname all my Pokemon. My boyfriend named my Caterpie "Catercake." (: It's level 100 now hahaha.
 
I always name my Pokemon after American presidents. Sometimes the type actually determines what president I name it after (Kennedy the Pidgeot being a reference to the Kennedy Airport), while others are completely random (Roosevelt the Furret).
 
I like to nickname my pokemon all one name and that name is Taffy after a dog we had. To me it seems to fit with any pokemon as long as the pokemon is genderless or female yeah I know I'm odd like that.
 
Sometimes. Not usually though.

Like I named My torchic Torch in Ruby.

And Blaze when it evolved into Blaziken
