What Parent in their right mind...!

You know, it's a perfectly acceptable aspect of life to do that in the game/anime, as the people had been doing it for generations before Pokemon Red came into action. And besides, they have Pokemon, they can protect themselves from most of the dangers out there. Besides, you have OFFICER JENNY on patrol constantly so even the weak and helpless and go to someone.

Well, Ash kinda proved that he could do it, so... And I guess it would be a life path, if you are someone like Ash... Or you could be someone like Gary, who believes that Pokemon Master-ing is his path, but he discovers that he really wants to be a Pokemon Professor. So. You never know.
And yes. If I could find any way to get my child out of that hell-hole they call school and into a life of fun and adventures, yes, I would be the first parent to do so. I definitely would have went on a Pokemon Adventure the second I turned 10 to get away from things like that.

Its the mind of japanese people. I mean how would pokemon be happy if you hurt them, then captured them and then make fight for us.
If I were a pokemon, i would hate my trainer for making me fight!

thats true... but the pokemon still seem extremeley happy... perhaps theyre drugged?
that would explain a lot of things 8D

...would let their 10 year old wonder the lands alone to be a master at making creatures attack each other. Let's take Pokemon in real-life context here, the fact that their are other jobs your child could do. Aren't there normal schools? Isn't 10 too young? Is Pokemon Training really a life path? I guess you earn money from battles...

Anyway, what do you think?
I hope a thread like this doesn't exist, if it does, I think it's old, haven't seen one.

I'm on a thread roll again :D

It's a different world so what's unusual to us may not be unusual to them. Scientifically, our behaviours are affected partially by our surroundings. If we did live in a Pokemon world, it's entirely possible that leaving home at the age of 10 to go on a journey is acceptable.

It seems quite evident to me that humans in the Pokémon world mature far quicker than those in our own world. Starting a Pokémon journey at 10 might even be some sort of "coming of age" thing in the Pokémon world, meaning these kids are actually more like adults...

Even though every other hiker is all like "Bwahahahahhahahah beaten by a kid rawr!"

Well, the little kids have their own Pokemon to protect them if there's any danger.
I think Pokemon like to battle each other, it makes them happy, and when they have a human it makes them more happy.
Like Dexter says in the first episode "Wild Pokemon tend to be jealous of human trained Pokemon." So.. they like to be captured.. maybe because they know they'll get much stronger with a human taking care of them.
Kind of like Dogs.. they love people.
And I would totally let my 10 year old go out on a big adventure because I know that they would be safe with their Pokemon. I'd just want to make sure they check in once and a while. Wouldn't want to go 5 months without hearing how my child is doing.. then I would worry.
Shoot.. when I was ten all I ever did was write stories about my own make-believe Pokemon journey.

Lol, you're kidding, right TC?
You're making it sound like real life, and as if the monsters actually kill.
Never in a million years could you be able to perfectly correlate real life with Pokemon world.

Norms change from place to place.
Have you ever thought of why it is not normal for a ten year old to go outside by their own in real life? Because there are dangers outside.
In the Pokemon world, there are no kidnappers, no guns (except one banned episode), no carnivorous animal making food out of humans (Not even Raikou, Entei, and Arcanine have human meat for food).

Moreover, we can assume that 10 is their 18 year old, and they make it seem 10 so that the original viewers of the show can connect perfectly.
10 is like their adult, and Pokemon is their way of life.
The norms are different there, people mature faster, and only six year old is too young.

Pokemon Trainer is the most common profession in their place, and there is no such thing as government and school because none are needed in a perfect world where resources seem to pop out from mid air, no one seems to know what that meaty thing is from inside of chicken burgers, no one eats Pokemon, and no one is corrupted except for the evil organization who have other good people to stop them. They already know a lot from home schooling, and the rest is learned from their journey.

And creatures sound like harmful things sniffing out meat. These are the cute cuddly teddy bear like creatures, who always get along well, and if they don't the most they do is to shock you with 10000 volts which only feels like a tickle to you.
And they don't fight till death either, since there obviously isn't something as death - they fight till they faint.

It's a different world so what's unusual to us may not be unusual to them. Scientifically, our behaviours are affected partially by our surroundings. If we did live in a Pokemon world, it's entirely possible that leaving home at the age of 10 to go on a journey is acceptable.
Quoted for truth.
