Spinoff/Mobile What Pokémon do you keep?

Since I just started a new account last month, I've only so far raised a few Pokémon to CP levels above 1500. These include Vaporeon, Golem, and Snorlax. Vaporeon is top favorite so regardless of its stats, I knew I wanted to raise one. The other two were for Pokedex/capture.

It's helpful to raise a Pokemon with 2 or 3 stars from the appraisal, but some species are just better than others. My near perfect Raticate isn't going to be as helpful as Snorlax. My Vaporeon will also be more helpful than a Flareon (water typing more useful).

Good Pokémon to raise include:
- Glass cannon / sweepers like Alakazam, Gengar, Jolteon, Infernape, Excadrill, Sceptile
- bulky sweepers like Swampert, Electivire, Machamp, Salamence, Rhyperior that specialize in either physical or special
- bulky tanks like Vaporeon, Blissey, Donphan, Snorlax, Clefable, Dragonite
- Metagross, Tyranitar, etc are bulky and strong all around

Since the above listed may be rare, maybe raise something common in your area that isn't a Wurmple. I tend to find a lot of Growlithe and Geodude. There may be tier lists online for what's recommended to raise.

Mons that are good for raids according to dedicated players and guide sites (like gamepress), 100% mons, shinies, and at least one of each species are what I personally keep. I don't do much of the GO battle league so can't help out much there, but for raids these are my staples:

  • Machamp (fighting)
  • Metagross (steel)
  • Rhyperior (rock or ground, but it shines most as rock)
  • Moltres (fire or flying)
  • Zekrom (electric)
  • Thundurus Therian (recently released) (electric)
  • Raikou (electric)
  • Mamoswine (ice)
  • Darkrai (dark or ghost)
  • Dialga (dragon)
  • Mewtwo (psychic)
  • Gyarados (water)
  • Dragonite (dragon)
  • Excadrill (ground)
  • Groudon (ground)
  • Rayquaza (dragon)
  • Kyogre (water)
  • Giratina (ghost)
  • Rampardos (rock)
  • Venusaur (grass)
  • Torterra (grass)
  • Gardevoir (fairy)
  • Alolan Golem (rock)
  • Gengar (ghost)
  • Feraligatr (water)

There are more good ones than the above, but these stand out as being particularly excellent in raids. Some of them need their community day moves to be great though, like Metagross. You can just use gamepress to search up and see what they suggest as the best moveset, and then see if that move needs to be Elite Charge TM'd or not (it's how you get comm day moves on these mons if you don't have them with them, other than evolving new ones during specific events). \o/

Pro tip: keep any decently strong shadow Swinub you find if you lack Mamo, it is incredibly good when evolved. Don't purify it.
