(The edit box ate my post, I've added the rest of it now.)
It's perfectly fine to not like Pokemon. I have several friends who don't like it and some who even think it's a little weird that I like it, but they don't bash me or anything. Saying that they're losers because they don't like it is exactly the same as saying that people who like it are losers. Everyone has the right to their own opinion. However, people do NOT have the right to act like total asses about their opinion.
If you run into someone who bashes you because you like Pokemon, the best thing to do is ignore them. People like them usually aren't even worth talking to anyway. However, if you really want to discuss the issue with them, try to act like an intelligent human being. Don't resort to flaming them or cursing them out, even if they are doing it to you. Flaming and cursing back at them really isn't making you our Pokefans in general look good. If you want to debate the issue with them, try asking them why they hate it. I assure you that, 70% of the time, they will say something like "because it's stupid" or "because it's not cool anymore". If they say that, there really isn't anything you can do. Just ignore them and hope to God that they grow up soon, for their sake. If it's against their religion, respect that. However, that still does not give them the right to bash it seeing as how they've probably never even played it.
I've found that most people who actually have good, intelligent reasons for not liking Pokemon are usually mature and intelligent enough to respect the fans' opinions. However, if they don't then they're assholes and you don't have to deal with them. I also believe that people who liked Pokemon when it was in but hate it now have NO RIGHT WHATSOEVER to flame current fans, but they are just like all the other haters. Ignore them.
In conclusion, there's nothing wrong with liking pokemon, there's nothing wrong with hating it. However, when you decide to judge people based on whether or not they like the game, that's what makes you an immature little bigot who isn't even worth talking to. It's a video game, not a representation of one's social status. You can't change the minds of flamers, and they hopefully can't change your mind. From what I've heard, once you get out of the shallow school world full of cliques and stereotypes, you'll find that no one in the real world really gives a d*mn if you like Pokemon or not.
