What truly makes people different...?

Personality development... I'm pretty sure it's about 50% genetics, and 50% environmental-caused.
I agree with you (and Dakota ^^). Now I wonder if luck affects it too.
I can't say much, since I'm not into Psychology

As for what you said about paragraph 3, I never agreed with that theory, and probably never will because there can be 10 years old who are so smart, and fellow classmates who are complete lack wits at the age of 15+. Example within PC itself: Carol vs (whose name shall not be mentioned because that'll be flaming). Age is a useless number except to measure when you should retire, and when you get cash from the government.
Actually, age plays a rather big part of human development. A teenager is more likely to get depressed over things due to the increased hormones in the body, and a kid as young as 7 might not fully understand any given situation and would gow up thinking it was natural.

Freudian psycology states that your age determines your sexual neds and possiblywhat kind of personality you'll have...of course, no one really took Freud seriously XP

Age helps 22sa...

As plato said, "The only way to knowledge is through experience," and the older you are, the more experience you have. Think of it as a game...

Someone who's played an RPG for 50 hours will probably be a lot stronger than someone who's played that same one for 40 hours. Though this won't ALWAYS be the case if the the person playing the less time is exceptioanlly good and the person playing at 50 is exceptionally bad. And the concept of being bad or good in the game only talks about how well and fast and accurately you can take in information.

It is a fact that the older you are you're most likely wiser (I didn't say smarter, I said wiser) than someone who is younger.

And I personally thought Sigmund Freud was a little on the Darwinistic idea of things, we're we don't have control over our human emotions and development, when in most cases we certainly do!

Well thas my rant...come on back now ya hurr! gosh gilly durnit

BOO ya!

It?d be more about efficiency in the RPG example. If you used those fewer hours wiser, more focused and so on you can be much better than someone who sits there doing nothing for fifty. At the same time, a younger person who applies themselves can be a lot smarter. I do agree in a sense that sometimes age does play a part, as no matter how smart or bright you are there are some things you don?t fully get the scope off until you?ve been around logn enough to see and make mistakes.

Kairi dumbed it down perfectly...kagome? WHAT!?!

It is genetically programmed into every newborn what time he or she will learn certain things (can be stalled or perhaps even destroyed by horrible environments however), which controls about 50% of your potentials as you grow up through your stages of mental/moral development. I'm not how much knowledge affects personality. But I'm sure it does to some degree, or else nobody would change as they become circumsized to a religion, which would usually demands change. The opposite of knowledge is sin. Also if you're idealistic, then your knowledge may affect your personality a lot I suppose, idealistic is a personality trait itself too.

I upgrade myself everyday.

Maybe what makes someone different when they seem to be smart? ^^; I mean, look at frostweaver, he's very very smart, and that makes him unique, doesn't it?

*sees Kairi nod*

What makes people diffrent? in order to find that out, first we must find what is 'normal'. but what is normal?

some say the diffrence between me and others my age, and even slightly older, is because I understand the difference between 'popular' and 'stupid' those who think they are popular because they hang out with a gang and bully others, they are just plain dumb. Younger kids like me because they think I'm cool, and understand them better than most, the older kids call me 'goody-two-shoes' because I've never drank beer or smoked or shoplifted or any of that kind of stuff. I take that as a compliment. it means I have more assets then they do.

The adults? they think I'm some sort of idol, a super smart kid who hardly ever fails. but I'm human too. I just know where to keep out of trouble.

I'm different from everyone because I'm visually impared [20-800 vision] and that's VERY rare

People don't like me because they think I always makle fun of them! But I never did!
Not on purpose at least.
And it is because of this, they always make fun of me! =.=|||

Oh well...

There is also difference in the order of siblings.

Take my family for example. My oldest sister (who is turning 30) is different from me in some ways. She lets people know when she is angry or depressed (which is annoying because she over-dramatizes). Somehwhat shameless. And at her work if someone asks her a stupid question, then she lets them know of their foolishness. She is also sort of good with kids because she babysat both her younger siblings and neighbor's kids, so she's somwhat of a leader.

Now take me, second youngest in my family, fourth child. Having 3 older sisters pick on me in my youth made me into a closed book. I tend to hide my feelings and hide my "bad" or "naughty" drawings so they will not be discovered. To this day, I dislike people going into my room. But my family also moved a lot during my life so I don't value friendship much at all.

In a sociology book I read, they say that the older sibling tends to respect elders more and younger ones are normally more, put it bluntly, spoiled. But I respect adults out of fear (fear of failure mainly) while my oldest sister stands up to them and challenges.

Ok, the thing about difference. I used to think that my fascination with pregnancy was rather different until I found out about a site dedicated to it (furries, anthromorphic animals). I also used to think that my obsessive love for Hitmonchan was different, but I have found a really cool chan-fan. Since the internet is so open, it is much easier to access others who have common interests as you and find out you're not so different afterall.
