The Super Mario Bros. Movie. I really enjoyed it- all the voice actors were major, the story was well-written, and I liked seeing all the different references in it! I think Bowser and Donkey Kong are my favourite characters. I definitely recommend it!
I Saw the TV Glow (2024). I had to watch it because I had to give a presentation on a film director for a class, and I chose the director of this film before even watching it. I won't lie- I was really confused watching it, especially towards the end. It's hard to explain. But after doing research on the director and their other works, I got more clarity on the movie and a better appreciation of the director, and I would like to re-watch it sometime with a better understanding of the symbolism and such. There were a lot of shots that used vibrant, colorful lights as the main light source and it was really interesting visually.
I went to the restored 4k IMAX release of Princess Monoke in theaters today. The power of that sweeping score when heard in a cinema's surround sound is just something staggering, I can't get those cellos out of my head from Ashitaka's theme. The images are still breathtaking, a forest that truly feels alive and full of an ancient magic. The story truly is epic in scope with 3 interesting and strong characters to witness the perspective of. The message is also as important for our times as ever, when you look at how we continue to destroy the environment for profit, and ultimately will destroy ourselves following the present course. This film will always be a masterpiece.
Just finished rewatching Ben 10: Destroy All Aliens (2012). I remember watching this movie when it premiered on Cartoon Network back in 2012. Been a while since I had watched it, as it didn't come up on TV for a while where I live.
