6th Gen What's with the wild pokemon encounter rate?

    Is it just me or is the encounter rate for wild pokemon getting worse and worse? It seems you can't take more than a couple of steps without running into something. It really disrupts the flow of the game in my opinion. This was noticeable in the Black & White games as well but it wasn't this bad.

    And yes I'm aware of repels but it's still an annoyance. Really one of my only complaints with the game so far.
     
    I seem to have the opposite issue, I seem to have worse encounter rates. You must be pretty unlucky.
     
    Who is your lead pokemon? If the have the Arena Trap, Illuminate, MAgnet Pull, No Guard, Hustle, Vital Spirit, Pressure, they will do anything from attracting pokemon of a higher level or a certain time all the way to increases the overall encounter rate anywhere from 150% - 200% so maybe those are your issues?

    Conversely, pokemon with the Intimidate, Keen Eye, Quick Feet, White smoke decrease wild pokemon encounter rates
     
    You know what I think it's just in really tall grass areas and forests where the encounter rate is high. Everywhere else actually seems pretty reasonable. I'm not too far into the game so I might have jumped the gun too early when I made this thread.
     
    Well I feel like I get jumped a bit, especially in the swampy areas and sea routes. Though personally I don't think it's quite as bad as the encounter rates in, say, HGSS or BW. Those two I always felt really threw it to me.
     
    I found BW's encountr rate extremely low. XY seems ok. I can pass through grass patches a few times before fighting anything. The rate's pretty low for be but seems fine as it is.
     
    I remember running through the friend safari and I only got one every 40 steps, was weird. Are you sure you don't have a pokemon with a pokemon attracting ability?
     
    Definitely got mixed signals from the encounter rate haha. When I was searching for Pokemon, I'd ride around on the bike for a good 8 sec before I got anything. When I just want to pass through, obviously something's gonna pop out.
     
    The encounter rate want any different to previous games from my experience. If anything, I probably encountered less wild Pokémon.

    I'm with this person, also in caves i have to run around what seems to be forever to get attacked. I ran threw victory road with out even getting attacked.
     
    My encounter rate was fine, maybe even a little too low - I don't have a single Zubat in my boxes at the moment & I completed the game awhile ago now.

    I think the best encounter rate is one that lets you think you can skip across the odd bit of grass without worrying, but occasionally bites you in the backside. Definitely how X&Y felt for me. :D
