Skye smiled, watching the light-dragon soar across the sky. Tsubasa seemed to relax a lot more next to her, which furthered the return of her good mood.
"I'm Skye," she offered after the dragon had dwindled to a few twinkling lights. She glanced at him appreciatively. "That really cheered me up. I'm not sure why...but it did. Thank you."
She pulled her knees up to her chest and hugged them. Her indigo eyes were bright now, filled with cheerful thoughts.
Suddenly, a rustle in the bushes disturbed her thoughts. A child appeared, no older than eleven, brandishing a pokeball bravely.
"I-I-I challenge...someone to a battle!" he said, trying to sound brave. Skye smiled at him, and looked over at Tsubasa.
"I'm sorry..." she told the boy. "My Fearow and I don't battle. You might try Johann or Celeste. They might be up for a battle. They're in the woods a ways. Be careful not to get lost!"
The child smiled, which soon became a rather malicious grin. Skye narrowed her eyebrows, disturbed, and shrunk back.
The child began to change, quite dramatically. He grew a few feet, his fair skin replaced by a dark red skin that it was almost black. His body became that of a demon, sprouting tattered, bat-like wings, and a devil's tail. Two horns sprouted from his demon head, and he looked down at them menacingly.
"Give me the half-angell," it demanded, bearing its teeth and claws.
Tsubasa fluffed out his feathers, and stood between Skye and the demon, looking rather menacingly at the demon. He did nothing, not even appearing to be waiting for something, but stood his ground nonethe less.
