When you watch anime, do you tend to like the good guys or the bad guys?

Good guys most of the time hardly ever root for bad guys. I did like team rocket but know they and the Pokemon anime as whole have become rather annoying.

Although I tend to get wooed by a character based on their personality or appearance, I more often than not root for the good guys, or whoever the story is centrally focused around. Of course, I always find deviations with secondary characters and tend to like them more because of the fact that they're secondary characters.

Bad guys, pretty much always. They're more interesting. Actually, I like the psycho ones the best, because a person who isn't completely well in the head always makes for an interesting time. :p And a crazy evil smile is always ^^ on the hotness scale for a Spaekle.

For me it depends as well. Sometimes I love the good guys but on occasion I like the bad guys. =3

I usually go for the good guys. I guess it depends on the anime itself. Like for instance in Naruto, Sasuke is the anti-hero. He does stuff that you will think he is a villian, but he isn't. He use to fight along side Naruto and Sakura, but he changed.

I think thought having a balance of the two really makes the anime interesting. I will go for the good guys, no doubt. But I think some of the villains makes it interesting. ^^ Also anti-heroes. XDD

For me, it depends on the character and their back story. And I hate to say it, but if they look cool... hehe.
But It's about 50/50 on what side I cheer for. :3

I will usually prefer protagonists, though there are times in which I will prefer antagonists. With the exception of Otogi (he started off as an antagonist but later joined Yuugi and co., technically making him a protagonist by the end of the series), I despised or was indifferent to the protagonists from YGO (despised in the cases of Yami no Yuugi, Jounouchi, Honda, Shizuka, Anzu, and Rebecca and indifferent in the cases of Yuugi and Ryou). I greatly preferred the antagonists, since they had more interesting backstories and I could understand the reasons behind their actions (especially in regards to Dartz and Yami no Bakura/Thief King Bakura). Similarly, when it comes to Pokemon, I am a huge fan of the Team Rocket trio and greatly dislike Ash and Pikachu (as well as Misty).

There are also times in which I will like the protagonists and antagonists of a series equally. For example, I liked both the protagonists and antagonists of Fullmetal Alchemist on an equal level. The same holds true for Slayers and Steel Angel Kurumi.

Well, I usually like the bad guys, but most of the time they are just wierd. I also like the good guys with the bad attitude.

Yeah, I agree with everyone. It depends on what anime I'm watching. Sometimes I like some bad guys and sometimes I like good guys.

I just about always tend to root for the protagonists (unless the protagonist is incredibly annoying). However, I pay closer attention to the villains, because how the villains are characterized shows a lot about the skill of the writers. Anyone can write for a generic pure-evil-and-wants-to-destroy-the-world-for-no-good-reason kind of villain, but it takes real talent to make the villains as interesting as the protagonists.

Examples of terrifically characterized villains: Darth Vader, Impmon/Beelzemon.
