not to mention all it has going for it now is a bridge.
Shanghai is bigger so no Shanghai has more hobos.
Bigger City= More hobo's end of off topic discussion.Mmmm still not what I said.
And as someone else has stated, it's a cleaner city.
It was just an observation, I'm not saying Isshu is NYC or Shanghai. It doesn't matter personally to me.
Actually it depends on the society and economy of that city, I'm sure there are several big cities in America with low homeless rate compared to some smaller cities...Bigger City= More hobo's end of off topic discussion.

We are off topic because we are talking about Hobo's not where Isshu is based. And I am not stubborn. How is it off topic? Hiun, being the most important city probably has a lot in common with whatever city it's portraying. So maybe if the society is different it could help that theory out somewhat. You're being stubborn for no reason whatsoever.
Also, what MRAS said.
The lake in Isshu actually helps out the New York theory just as well. Central Park is right where the High Link is located. Central Park in the center of the map? I think that makes a lot of sense.
I made a post earlier suggesting that it could be based off both Shanghai and NYC due to the features both places have.CENTRAL PARK AND THE SOUTH STREET SEA PORT ARE PROOF. XD
I live in NYC and my mom works near the seaport. so I've been there and I know the appearance of the area's map from above (from train maps, road maps, etc) and I am 99.9999999% certain that Isshu is based off my city. (NYC)
The only thing is... there's no desert in chinatown or the village. XD but they gotta put it somewhere. XD
It'd be sooo cool if it was confirmed to be based off NYC... XD
But it does make logical sense too. The Pokemon Center was in NYC... (they changed it to Nintendo World but still!!!) so yeah. my reasoning as to why it's most likely nyc.
Yeah, well we are tying to figure out what place the creators drew inspiration from actually :).Isshu is in Isshu.
That's where it's located. Although regions in the Pokemon games have borrowed from real-world counterparts, that does not make them at all based in a real-world geographic location. While Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh were based on Kanto, Nara, Kyushu, and Hokkaido, the games did not take place in any of those areas. They took place in Kanto, Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh.
Even if Isshu is based on Tokyo, Shanghai, NYC, London, San Francisco, or any other town, that does mean the game takes place in said area. It just means the creators drew inspiration for Isshu from another region.
Lol, no Isshu is based on Torterra's back :PIsshu is based on a place up a wild Pokabu's butt. I'm sorry I just had to post it.
Uh Magikarps can be female too you know, Jk :P.It's located on a magikarps p****
Jk, it's still NY no matter what
not to mention all it has going for it now is a bridge.
Lol the Aztecs are from Mexico not South America :P. I thought that it looked like an Aztec like eagle when I first saw it (that and a digimon...).A bridge that is quite significant in that it looks nearly exactly like the bridge in Shanghai. I'd say the entire region of Isshu is on based on any one place, but rather is an amalgamation of numerous different cities.
Also, to those saying Wargle is red, white, and blue, it's also yellow and purple. In fact it looks almost like an Aztec based on the colour of blue on it, as well as the yellow. Plus it's "War" "Eagle". What was a war eagle? Why, the Aztec Eagle Warriors of course...
Therefore Isshu is in South America [/sarcasm]
It's also quite similar to an African Fish Eagle, it's crest looks like a Philippine Hawk Eagle, or even a Pallas' Sea Eagle.
Liberty is also not just associated with the United States, but also 19th Century France, Ancient Rome, as well as China (called Ziyou, Jiyou in Japanese). This is Liberty Ticket in Kanji 自由券. Ziyou literally means "Your Freedom". They shouldn't need Katakana to say "Liberty Ticket" but everything in Pokemon seems to use Katakana. It would make life so much easier if they used Hiragana or Kanji.
