5th Gen Where is Isshu? Confirmed - New York

Where is Isshu?

Pokemon still shouldnt be proof of the location the region is based on. Sinnoh has a Lion, Rhino, and Beavers. None of which exist in Japan.
 
I never said they did and again bringing the thread off topic. I meant they had similarties due to being based off the same thing.

That would mean Isshu is based on Florida, hur hur.

Also they're real life animals, not something Disney created.

For some reason, I think it's based on Eastern China. Distinct from Japan, yet still near. The desert region could be the Gobi (geographically, maybe not) and the rivers can be the Yangtze and Yellow. Also, I have a feeling that Pokemon from previous regions aren't going to be readily available in-game, due to the teaser video showing the appearance of Pikachu OW in-game after seeing it on the online Dream World. Because Pikachu has been capable of being captured in all previous generations in the wild, and because Isshu is so remote, and because this generation is promised to be drastically new, I believe the only way to obtain older Pokemon is through the Dream World.

I know, quite off topic.
 
I'm pretty sure they said that Isshu was farther away from any of the previous regions than they were from each other. Not just the highly ambiguous distance of "FAR AWAY." Correct me if I'm wrong, but you don't have to use caps this time. I can discern your central point without them.
 
If it's anywhere in China it would most likely be Shanghai. We have been discussing this for 23 pages. There's even a poll with Shanghai as a choice.

I'm willing to bet money that Pokemon from previous generations will be in the game. How stupid would it be for them to put only a Luvdisc/Nosepass (Pure speculation) evo in the region, but not their pre-evos? Not to mention that throwing in old favorites pleases fans who aren't found of the style of the new Pokemon.
 
I agree with Shanghai. A place in Eastern China. Sorry for not lurking moar, I didn't view the first page before I posted. I just said Eastern China, unfamiliar with Chinese geography and not knowing you could only say either NYC or Shanghai. And now that I have seen the two options, I'm more inclined to say NYC, though the desert doesn't fit that guess.

Because there's a desert in Kyushu, right?

By that logic, Isshu can't be based on Shanghai because there isn't a desert above the city.

Again with the desert crap. The desert means nothing the only thing that matters is the shape of the region.
 
oh dear god. i was just reading some stuff on page 22 (about the eagles and stuff) and i totally started laughing histerically... dont even ask why. i dont know. XD

i dont think one pokemon's appearance is gonna make much difference though. although i cant help but think that mamepato has more resemblance than lets say... pidgey... to a NYC pidgeon. i see em all the time. well maybe its coz mamepato is blackish and pidgey is more uhh not? XD nyc pidgeons are gray-black. XD lol

i still vote for nyc.

oh and i feel the need to comment on this:
See that landmass to the east of the east river and downtown NYC? That's Long Island, and it is significantly larger than the eastern portion of Isshu. Hiun city is the furthest point south in Isshu (that we can see, the land to the west of the western bay on Isshu is further, but as far as we know nothing is there), if it were based on NYC (geographically), then the eastern portion of Isshu would be longer, and it would instead be the most southern point instead of Hiun.

Long Island isn't part of NYC so it being cut off it perfectly normal.

The shape of the region is obviously (...IMHO) based on that of NYC. This doesn't, however, mean that the rest of Isshu must have connections to New York City. It's only a shape, intriguing and obviously suitable for gameplay, or Nintendo wouldn't have chosen it. Deserts, mountains, no, none of them will correlate to the REAL NYC Metro area... Think about Hoenn: In real life the distance between Kyushu and the island Ever Grande is based on is the same as the distance from Sinnoh to Kyushu (that's effin huge, friends). Also, Hoenn rotated Kyushu 90 degrees.

So even if Isshu's SHAPE is based on that of New York City, it would be daft to expect every single feature of the region to focus on that one city.

Actually Japan does have football, and I'm fairly sure it has Musicals.

Also Japan is home to the Siberian Chipmunk in northern areas.

American Football is played as an almost hobbyist-type sport in the land of the rising sun, I should note. Musicals are also everywhere, but European areas would be better known for them, wouldn't they?

If that's so why include it in things that swing you towards New York.

I'm just trying to make people realise that their 'hard evidence' for NYC is actually things found all over the world that they hadn't considered.

(Like the Subway and Deer mention from earlier).

Being convinced by things such as the Liberty Ticket however is reasonable, as there is very little else it could be referring to. Of course it could be that only the Island that the ticket leads to is based on the IRL counterpart.
 
I associate musicals with Japan, because I've always thought that Japan was where there was musicals, bright lights, dancing (like Kimono dancing in Johto!), etc. :)

For me the musicals points more towards Japan than America.
 
i live in PA.
and my favorite place to go watch musicals is about a good hour and a half from me.
it's called Broadway!
located in, lets see, NYC.
