if it was only old-new, but the main point still stays yin-yang which legendaries represents :D

Ok now i have searched this isshu stuff out a little bit and here are some things that I found:

- a pic with some neat things, though crapily made, but some good points
https://i.imgur.com/yBvQx.jpg
(i posted a link, cause its too big, and idk how to put it n the spoilers)

now beside legendaries pointing to china, there is hidauruma.

- As for Aloe being a black woman, almost every pokemon gen had a gym trainer that are foreigns: Lt.Surge, Juan, Crasher Wake, and Fantina.

- Victini isn't 'American themed'. It's based on a combination of the Greek Winged-Goddess of Victory 'Nike', and Usagi-ringo, a decorative way to cut apples.

- There are several things that the NYC crowd shun that are in favor of Shanghai, like Suzhou being exactly where it should be on the Isshu map (built on water + ferris wheel), the Sutong Bridge, the fact that the Shanghai region is the same size as every other Pokemon region and NYC is literally 1/6th the size of Kanto. People see a modern Metropolis and assume it's western, when Shanghai City is literally the exact same size as NYC and is in many ways more modern looking. The NYC crowd ignores the mountain ranges, the GIGANTIC LAKE, set of islands off the coast of Isshu (since Isshu has a coast...)

- Here is a picture of isshu, and its shanghai counterparts.

- Shanghai area also has windmills in its rural areas, whilst NYC doesn't, as far as I know.

- Zoroark, a fox pokemon is most likely based on a huli jing, a chinese spirit fox, which can change its appearance.
So another pokemon that point to china, besides legendary dragons and hidauruma and his pre-evo

- Possibility that Iris is Chinese.

I hope saying that isn't too controversial, but honestly now...her character design is a very common stereotype used in a large variety of anime for Chinese girl martial artists. There's really no arguing this point. To make it clearer for those who haven't watched a lot of other anime, there's several tell-tale characteristics which makes this so damn obvious it isn't funny.
a) Twin tails / Pom Poms (Occasionally hair up in a single bun, but with two small tails down the side)
b) "Wild" energetic personalities
c) Clothing with very wide open sleeves (most common with the younger girls up to around middle school) OR clothing with no sleeves whatsoever (usually more common with high school and up characters)

- If mamanbou turns out to be a luvdisc evo, that would hint towards shangahi more, because shanghai is closer to hoenn. But i guess we will just have to w8.

I also remember some1 saying on this forum that 2ch stated that isshu is NYC, whoever said this has lied, 2ch researched this and came to conclusion that isshu is shanghai, ill try to find more info and post it later, since all the links I found are on japanese, i hope i find it :S

Yes, but I'm saying that just because they're the Yin and Yang Pokémon doesn't mean they are automatically embracing the whole of Taoism, in which case it does not lean as heavily as it could to China —although I'm not saying you're wrong, because it still does.

Also this is mostly irrelevant and pointless, but do not racially stereotype personality traits. Not all Chinese girls are wildly energetic. There are wild and energetic girls everywhere.

In reference to some of the stuff on the large image you linked, yes, there is an eagle on the Mexican flag. So what? There isn't an eagle on the American flag. No one is talking about flags. America adopted the eagle as it's symbol and national animal during it's birth as a nation. Yes, Mexico's national animal is the Golden Eagle, but then again their colours are not red, white, and blue, they are white, they are red white and green. Wargle being red, white, and blue and an eagle cannot be so easily ignored ignored. Wargle also looks nothing like the chinese eagle pictures from that link.

The windmills may not even need to be physically based, they could be plot based, meaning they are more of a reference to the "old vs. new" plot-line.

The rest I will concede to you as being very good points. This is completely up to interpretation, and may never be settled unless there are more definitive clues found when the game is released. I, however, hope you do not think that I'm leaning towards New York still merely because I'm "just another American." I appeal more to logic than I do to my country.

Yes i too think that eagle thing it says on pic is pointless. As for the girls, it said that for the chinese girls in animes, not in real life(btw, it wasnt me that wrote it, but i agree that her clothing reminds me of chinese anime girls)
Yeah, of course we cant really know for sure anything, but maybe when the games come out, some light will be shed on this topic :D

Nope I actually like the way you point your opinions, and that u use your logic, unlike some other people who dont like other ideas so they spout nonsense and start fights :D
In the end every1 has right for their own opinion.

That's almost an unfair comparison, though, because America doesn't really have much in the way of anime. :P I don't know though, you could be right, I don't watch anime.

I almost wonder if there was this much debate about Sinnoh's location. If there wasn't, and there isn't any sort of landmark that we can find in Isshu, then we really may never know. Perhaps Gamefreak is trying to be more sneaky, and they don't really want people know know anymore.

Alright, thank you, just making sure. I'd really hate to come off as ignorant. xD

Maybe they show some1 ingame to tell us more about its location, maybe Lt. surge if it is america, or some1 else saying something to hint us where we are. Id like it if something totaly unexpected happens, like maybe fantina comes and tells u isshu is in france :P

I still don't know if would even accept that as a definitive answer, because there have been a lot of foreign NPCs and characters in the games, such as the French man in Veilstone and team rocket grunt in HGSS.

If u come to the shanghai side we will make u R/S remakes XD
hehe anyyyhwhways, all the reasons for shanghai are mostly stated on this and last 2 pages, and for nyc, i still dont really see them XD besides victiny, wogoru and such things.

btw. our side has cookies too. I hope this post isnt too offtopic :P

man, new york is winning bad in the poll

man, new york is winning bad in the poll

You mean winning good! xD
Just kidding, it's so subjective.

But yeah, I could really go either way. Devil's advocate. I just think New York needs someone to stand up for it in these times. :P

Although I really do think the New York area does look physically more like Isshu than Shanghai does. Just the general shape of the peninsula.

lol 69% for NYC. In your face Shanghai xD

Oh man... so many puns...

I have looked around google but haven't found an answer but is the great wall of china anywhere near Shanghai because if it is. I see no wall around Isshu.

The Great Wall of China is not really near Shanghai. Quite a bit farther north.

Im leaning towards a mix of the two or...you know...somewhere completely original ?!

I thought so. They have shown nowhere near as much Chinese things in the games as they have for American stuff.

To be fair, they don't have to show the Great Wall of China in order to prove it's China. Shanghai is pretty Chinese all on it's own. Besides, there have been that daruma dolls thing. I think it's almost about even.

I just wish one of the GF workers would say where it is on Pokemon Sunday or in a blog so this crap would end.
