I've just finished raising a champion of a shiny Staraptor. (31 Speed IVs.) But there is one thing she still needs before going into battle: a hold item. So far, she looks like this:

    Staraptor@?
    Jolly
    Trait: Intimidate
    -Brave Bird
    -Close Combat
    -Return
    -U-Turn

For the item, I don't know which of these to pick:

-Muscle Band: No drawbacks but minimal Atk increase
-Life Orb: Better Atk increase but a tad suicidal since I'm also running Brave Bird and Close Combat
-Choice Band: Better Atk increase still but the restricton of moves can be extermely problematic

Life Orb/Choice Band/Choice Scarf either one of those

Id say Choice Band, simply because you arnt exactly going to be keeping this out the whole battle, are you ?, best thing to do with Staraptor and its not impressive defenses is to get in, kill things, and then get the hell out again. IMO this would make a great revenge killer.

Choice Scarf or Choice Band. Staraptor's defenses should be of almost no concern to you since this particular one probably has bad IVs in those areas.

Congrats on the shiny Staraptor, too!

Expert Belt probably since Choice Band will increase recoil. And CB with U-turn isn't the best combo

It isnt, but if you have good prediction that the opponent will DEFINITLY switch, then you will use U-Turn that turn (lol) and you can send out the most suitable Pokemon.

Yes, but it really doesn't matter if you are runnning choice band or choice scarf. Expert belt could work just because flying and fighting cover a decent amount of types.

I vote Choice Band/CB. However, if you really want speed, then it's perfectly fine to use Choice Scarf. Muscle Band is out of the question. Life orb is a big no-no, why? Well, basiacally, he has a lot of counters. As well as having a low hp, so they will destroy him automatically.

Thanks for your help, and thanks to Fufu for the congrats. I've decided to run Choice Band and see how it works for me. If it doesn't do well I'll switch to Life Orb.
