    Obviously, in the HG/SS games, the first Pokemon in your party follows you around in the overworld. Unless you're on your bike, or surfing, or in a specific area where your Pokemon needs to put in its Pokeball, anyway.

    Which Pokemon did you usually have following behind you in HG/SS? For me, it was usually my Meganium, or Scizor.
     
    I switch my party around, especially before important battles like elite four, legendary capture and gym matches. But Suicuine is my favorite gen 2 pokemon and whenever I could I would let it lead the party. It looks so magnificent, and was such a lively character with an important role to play in the plot with Eusine that I really wanted it to become my signature traveling companion. I loved seeing Suicuine's reactions in places near water, or if we returned to the Burned Tower.
     
    I usually used Heracross as my main Pokemon in HeartGold, so that's what usually followed behind me. In SoulSilver I mainly had my Starter Pokemon in the first slot, so I had Meganium following me.
     
    A Shiny Dunsparce I chained in Pearl shortly before the North American release of HGSS. That Dunsparce is the main reason I consider Shiny Dunsparce my favorite Pokémon to this day! :D

    Now I tend to keep my full-odds Shiny Shedinja out of its Poké Ball when I'm playing HGSS. I actually wanted to use it on my Ultra Sun team, but its Shiny palette is hardly noticeable in the 3DS games. In the pre-3DS games, it has more of a rose gold appearance that I find really charming.

    My favourite Pokemon to follow me around was Poliwag. To the point that I used to keep a Poliwag with an Everstone in the first slot of my team just because it was so heckin' cute following me around. Also Skarmory because I liked how it looked in the overworld.
     
    I switched the Pokes following me often, but I mostly had my Typhlosion or Slowbro following me. Weird combo, but I used those two the most I guess! Plus Slowbro is just cute and clueless.
     
    As much I love Bulbasaur, its overworld sprite hasn't aged well so I usually have Typhlosion, Scizor or Lugia up front.
