Between FireRed/LeafGreen, HeartGold/SoulSilver, and OmegaRuby/AlphaSapphire, which set of remakes are your favorites? I have to be honest. Even though I really enjoyed the fact that Hoenn was remade, the games were a little disappointing compared to the Johto remakes. What about everyone else?

Btw sorry for spelling Johto wrong 😊

You spelled Johto wrong. In the poll.
Heartgold and Soulsilver were my favorite remakes. I never got to play Gold, Silver, or Crystal, but when the Johto remakes came out, I could play through Kanto and Johto!
It was fun having your Pokemon following you around everywhere like in Pokemon Yellow, and the Pokewalker was a nice way to catch Pokemon that weren't in Johto or Kanto. It made me feel like my Pokemon was real and my Pokemon was my friend. <3

HGSS still have my favorite graphics of any game, and a superb level of polish overall. They win in my eyes. As for the others, FRLG is okay, and it fixed many of the horrifying list of glitches in RBY, but it didn't add as much to its source material as most of the other remakes imo. ORAS is the worst of the three, with the primary addition being several dozen unnecessary cutscenes, though it does also have many nice changes and cute graphics.

    ORAS because hoenn. <3

While I love the graphics and features of HGSS, I was just waaaay more excited to hear about Ruby & Sapphire remakes after so long, and they were really great games imo. FRLG are okay, but when compared to the other two they just don't come close.

Johto for sure. So much to do. Two regions. A safari zone. AND a Battle Frontier.

    Those were the days!!

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire are pale imitations of the originals.

    HGSS, those games had everything.

    1. Good graphics for the DS
    2. Superb Post Game
    3. Cool features (Pokemon follow you and the pokeathlon)
    4. Battle frontier.

ORAS and HGSS goes my vote, but most enjoyable are Heartgold and Soulsilver due to walking pokemon, 2 regions and a fun battle facility.

I never played Gen I/II or ORAS, but I'm going to say HeartGold / SoulSilver were my favourites. I've actually owned both, but I traded in SoulSilver in order to finally be able to use Arcanine - the great tragedy of him and Ninetales being that I can now only get the latter in Gen III when it finally became useful in Gen IV.

But anyway, the Kanto remakes are still good games don't get me wrong. The simplicity of them is refreshing in the lack of world-ending stakes when you fight Team Rocket and how the legendaries seem more forgotten than anything, whilst that limited post-game becomes far more interesting when you think that it is highly likely those Rocket Admins you fight are Ariana and Archer. But that simplicity of story and lack of a huge amount of post-game is also why I prefer the Johto remakes.

I mean, we get two entire regions! Battle Frontier is meh as its the same as Platinum so I'd probably just trade my team over, but other than that:

    - Possibly my favourite graphics of Gen IV/V (such a step up from Platinum, whilst the battle sprites in Gen V are ambitious but not as crisp as HgSs sprites, many of which are improvements on DPPt sprites).
    - Pokéathlon! Such a fun alternative to contests and a far better excuse to tap your touchscreen to death than polishing gym badges in Sinnoh. I will often lose a week or more when I first reach it just back-tracking for Apricorns then competing here.
    - The Eon Duo! I remember getting the event and finally being able to use them both as a double-battling team, but even now I can only get one in Gen IV and one in Gen III I still love it - they're my favourite legends.
    - An actually interesting Safari Zone! I still hate the capture mechanics, but being able to alter it to suit your needs is a fun gimmick, especially compared to how terrible the mixture of pokémon are in most other versions of it.
    - The sounds are a big deal for me as well - not just GB Sounds but all the ambient thinks like rustling grass and running water.
    - Pokéwalker gets a mention here as well, not least because it made me exercise (I lived about 8 miles of very hilly roads from my gym and didn't have a car yet, but this gave me something out of my cycling that I could use whilst laid there dying from all the exercise), but also as it adds yet more reply value to the games by making pokémon that would otherwise be unavailable until post-game for various reasons (i.e. Kangaskhan due to its scarcity, Elekid and Magby as you need to breed them, Murkrow due to it weirdly being found wild in Kanto).

I could probably go on, but if I keep doing so I'll just want to play these games again.

because Mudkip. Also Brendan and May, my two favorite protagonists, altaria, absol, torchic, soaring, Tropius, etc.
that's not really an argument that it has the best remakes though :p

also ORAS arguably has way too much of both brendan and may

You mean it has even more of them than RSE? Because the only reason I sometimes prefer HeartGold to Emerald is that Lyra doesn't appear enough to be anywhere near as irritating as May (I always play as a male character so I don't even know what he's called in HgSs). She's such a bad excuse for a rival that even my nostalgia for my first game can't overcome it.

Anyone who's seen me posting before knows how much I love Hoenn lmao, but despite all the nostalgia I have surrounding the region and how hyped I was for ORAS, I voted for HGSS. Those games have absolutely everything and were the height of Pokemon on the DS imo, rexploring Kanto was the icing on the cake and I only enjoy Emerald more than the Johto remakes.

I think HGSS did the best job as remakes.

-It had the most additional content of the remakes between the Johto Safari Zone, Gym Leader and E4 rematches, following Pokemon, Pokeathlon, Platinum's Battle Frontier, Pokewalker, and probably a few other features that I'm forgetting right now.
-It kept the Suicune storyline from Crystal. This is a point it has over ORAS, which didn't include Emerald's Battle Frontier, Desert Underpass, etc.
-It improved on the Kanto region by putting in Viridian Forest, which I remember was a common criticism of the original GSC. It also gave more characterization to both the Kanto and Johto leaders through interactions outside their gyms.

ORAS comes in second for the additional Pokenav features, Soaring, expansion of Team Aqua and Magma's goals (and making the leaders and admins have their own personalities as opposed to the originals where Archie/Maxie, Shelly/Courtney, and Matt/Tabitha were basically carbon copies of each other), and the additions to contests and secret bases. FRLG is third, not because I didn't like them, just because they had the least amount of new content, etc. That's to be expected though since FRLG were the first remakes of the series, and they were remakes of the first games.

HGSS outshines any Pokémon remake to date, they really went over and beyond on it.

All the little things in HGSS outweigh ORAS to me, ORAS was soooo easy to beat and there wasn't that much to it in the long run. The portals and riding on Latios/Latias was pretty cool, but walking Pokémon easily beats that.

I cant believe I forgot to mention walking Pokémon in my post ahah.
But yeah I totally agree with you! HGSS was really 11/10.

I think this is the thing, I actually enjoyed HGSS more then the original Generation Two games, which really sets them apart for me cause even though ORAS were amazing, I enjoy the originals better which makes the Johto remakes the best imo.
