[Approved] Who's That Pokemon

I think I've got my blueprint for the OP. Using the typical WTP CSS just to keep it faithful.

[PokeCommunity.com] Who's That Pokemon

PCXV Get-Together Edition - Round #1

Hello, Get Together 15 teams! It's time to put a test of your Pokemon knowledge with "Who's That Pokémon"! Each round (which will last 48 hours), I'll post the zoomed-in sections of four Pokémon and it's your job as a team to tell me which Pokémon the art belongs to. All of the art used will be from the Pokémon's official Dream World art and will all be 30x30 px section of the art cropped and zoomed in 8×. Once you think you have an answer, send it to me in a PM and you can get points awarded for your team.

Directions

  • Guess the four Pokémon whose art is being featured!
  • The clues are all 30×30 px sections of the Pokémon's Dream World art (found here) cropped and magnified 8x.
  • Send Hikamaru a PM (private message) with your answer once you've figured it out!
  • Do not post answers in this thread - you don't want other people to use your answers, do you?
  • Submit your answers by (insert date) before 5:00pm EST (2:00am AEST) if you want them to count!

Rewards!

Since this GT is a team event, I will be distributing points to the teams. I will award points based on how many members of each team scored 1st, 2nd and 3rd, with the team that had the most members taking out the placement for that round.

1st place will be for guessing all four Pokemon correctly, 2nd for guessing three correctly, and 3rd for guessing two correctly.

So I was thinking of doing some tweaks to the OP.

If anyone has input on what I should add or if they have an idea on how the point distribution could be handled, do respond if you can. I figured I'd take some extra feedback into account before I finalise this.

Since you're the event organizer, you are free to run this event however you see fit, honestly. It's your event lmao so no need to really ask us for permission to modify your OP as long as it's in the planning stages.

I might stick with my plan to have the answers submitted as a team, but then again asking questions is that whole novice EO thing. I'm still working on more puzzles so that I'll have some ready for when the event begins.

imo the best way to do this is present four zoomed in pokemon yourself for other teams to guess and as a team they have to send ONE guess each, and give each team around 48-72 hours (or however long you want to make it) to submit their guesses (I really don't think that's too long). That way you can run multiple rounds of WTP to keep the event itself fun and fresh and competitive, and whoever comes out with the most correct guesses wins the entire GT event.

That said, another thing to ask you. How would the points be handled in this case, since more than one team may provide the same answers?

they both get points; im under the assumptions there will be multiple rounds of WTP and if push comes to shove, if by the end of it all there are two teams which have the same number of points, then do a tiebreaker round. o.o

Okay, I'm definitely with this idea. Tiebreakers solve everything!

I plan to make each round last 48 hours, so that's approximately two days, which helps keep it fresh by having a new set of Pokemon to guess. In the event of two teams tied, I'll do a tiebreaker round where the two teams then have to guess a bonus Pokemon (in which I'll only provide one picture) and the team that guesses it correctly will then be declared the winner for that round.

I might finalise my CSS in a day or two, but we'll see if I have to look into anything else.

As much as I wanted to try Angie's idea, I figured it wouldn't work as well as I thought so I instead decided to settle on the regular WTP format where it's individual members guessing. The points I will award base on who comes 1st, 2nd and 3rd in that round while I award a participation point for the others.

The question next is, how do I determine the placings? Figured that is the last solution I need before I get this finalised.

I figured the four Pokemon-format would make it interesting, and would make it easier to determine the placement points since not everyone can easily recognise every single piece of the Global Link artwork.

I think 1st can be for getting all four correct, 2nd for getting three correct and 3rd for getting two correct. So basically, a group of members for each placement assuming multiple members get the same answers, while I then have a standings list where I add up the individual points towards each team. Thoughts?

My only question now is this:

How WTP is usually done (from the best of my understanding) is that you would get a PM from everyone who's guessing what the correct answers are. So are you going to base overall team points on who submitted the MOST correct answers?

I think that will be what it comes down to. I will look over the team each of those members are from in order to decide which team takes the placement in that round and the team that had the most representatives will take the round. So basically, 10 for the team that places first, 7 for second and 5 for third.

Okay, that makes sense.

So are you 100% finished planning with this event so the other GTs can give it a final gander and see if they have any other questions? :o

I think I am finalised (except for the fact I need to make some more puzzles which I'll do over the next few days) so you could go ahead with that and I'll see if anyone has questions. Did some last-minute tweaks to the CSS as well.

Sure! ^_^ One question: Can you post some example questions (with the css) so the GT Managers can better understand what to expect w/this event? :o

One question would do just to illustrate, I think.

Here's a test of how the layout is, such as the puzzle images.

Spoiler:

Not sure what else you were asking though.
