Why are old Pokémon never mentioned much these days?

Yeah why are they not mentioned much Diglett is my favorite pokemon and he is not ever mentioed now:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

Most people now are into the new pokemon generation I guess. Thats why they barely mention anything about generation 1 pokemon.
I know what you mean but they could at least mix it up a bit. Add some old with the new!

The new pokemons are alot stronger and are better looking. And the cards.. the old cards just too old and not as cool as the new ones

Without the abilities , most newer gen Pokemon would die in seconds compared to the older ones. The newer designs suck and should've been redeigned to be something not crap out of a monkey. Look at the Generation 4 starters and the new evolutions of older Pokemon, they are the worst designs since Treeko ,and the Bidoof line in exception to Gallade,Froslass, and a few others .

The newer cards should've revamped the NEO line card look for the later cards and not have too much silver.

Sounds great to me.

Even though I started with the 4th gen, I love the other gens, too.

From what I can only guess upon, it seems that this is likely the result of the new wave of Pokemon. Generation IV is the newest and most up-to-date generation thus far; and it brought in a wave of new fans, whom some of them have only access to the Pokemon provided in DPPt. As for the anime - it just keeps up to date with whatever 130+ new Pokemon were added, so I don't really expect to see older Pokemon on a regular basis.

However, I would also guess that somewhat of a balance will be provided when GSDS are released. Given that it will feature more Pokemon from Gen. I and II, I could see more of the early generation being used in competitive battling and such.

Meh, I still hear "Pikachu" a lot more then I hear "Darkrai", but then again, it's perhaps the most over-hyped Pokémon in existence. Other then that, Evee, and Mew/Mewtwo though, I haven't seen much reference from the first generation as I have the other three...

Liez!

I hear about gen 1 pokemon all the time, same with gen 2. They, in my opinion, seem to be some of the most over hyped pokemon there are. The real ignored generation is the Hoenn pokes.

I think they're fairly brought up, I was in maths and we were talking about Pokemon than some of the other people around me and my friend said they remember it and they mentioned Pokemon like Squirtle and Marill etc.. However, we mentioned something like Riolu and they didn't have the slightest clue.

Judging by your age, this may simply be a case of teenagers who used to be into it when they were kids and "grew out" of it when they got older. As such, they're familar with they pokemon they encountered when they were kids, but not so much the newer generation ones.

I will always think that after secound gen it got a little absurd, but i still like all the new ones just not as much

because many people like to forget about the past that's why. Those Pokemon had their time to shine and now that there are new Pokemon it's now their turn and if they don't get a turn then it's tough cookies for them then.

The Johto Pokemon seem to be the most forgotten ones. They're only just now coming out with remakes and you can try and mention Togetic or Typhlosion to a new fan - they won't have any idea what you're talking about. It's a shame because that's my favorite generation :/ I've been a fan since the old Kanto days, when they first started coming out with the cards, and I love all the generations. But it seems that Hoenn and Sinnoh are the two that most of the fans adore. I never see anyone playing Gold/Silver/Crystal anymore.

Long story short, it's because a lot of the old fans have outgrown the fandom, and the new ones have just entered in and gotten captivated by the new generation. It's sad because the old games were a lot of fun. I still have my old Yellow version and my Silver version :pink_giggle:

The old pokemon are old, therefore they have been around long enough to be talked about to death.
New pokemon are new, therefore they have not been around long enough to be talked about to death.

Logic.

I find that the first generation Pokemon are still brought up fairly often in the fandom. Maybe not as much as the third or fourth generations, but still pretty often.

Now, it's the second generation of Pokemon that are often forgotten. Qwilfish, anyone? Maybe Forretress?

ya, for all the freaking awesomeness that the second gen brought us, there were still WAY to many forgotten Pokemon!

I Guess many people just don't know of the cool pokemon back in the older day's when everything wasn't that complicated.

Not many people know of the 2nd gen. Even though it's tricky not many pokemon fans even know how to spell Feraligatr.

Thank god for HeartGold and SoulSilver.
