I've tried, and I will continue trying, but these games just don't capture my interest like other Pokemon games do... Maybe it's the lack of previous-gen Pokemon, or a new region, but I just find these games almost a chore to play... Hopefully Black/White 2 will be better because of their increased Regional Pokedex, but I just find this really strange. Anyone else with the same problem?

Yeah. Sometimes I'll be like "yeah let's go play Black!" and then five minutes later I'll be doing something else.

    Not sure why, honestly.

Not me, I actually liked Black and White. Most epic story in a Pokemon game!

Also, I loved the selection of powerful Pokemon in Unova. Most have become my new favorites!

No I didn't, actually. The lack of past Pokémon till the National Dex gave me a fresh start, which is B/W's intent.

I was exactly the opposite. I played White obsessively - over 300 hours on the first playthrough, spread over a couple of months. And a good part of that was specifically because there were no old pokemon in the regional dex - I couldn't have hoped for anything better. Seeing the same old pokemon in a new region is disappointing for me - I feel like, for that, I might as well just go back and play the old games again. But with White, I was like the proverbial kid in a candy shop - I just had to catch and train and evolve pretty much all of them, just because they were new and different and that was exciting.

For me it was the opposite. New region, new Pokemon, new characters. All of those were enough to keep me going and every new are kept sparking my interest so I always kept going and going.

I tend to use the new Pokémon in a new game, so I wasn't bothered by the lack of old Pokémon.

Heck, this is the best batch of new Pokémon since GSC, yet people still complain... Makes me wonder sometimes.

Weirdly I had that with B2/W2 and not B/W. :x For B/W I felt bad for getting through them so quickly and I completely slowed with the sequels :( Perhaps maybe you just missed the hype...? I know that certainly helped for me!

I had the same problem with Black, White, and White 2. The games just aren't as entertaining for me as past generation games, and I don't think it's really me because I can still pick up Platinum, for example, and older generation games (especially Yellow and Crystal!) and have no problem playing them. But with Gen V games, I just find it a struggle to make it through the game and to enjoy the post game. Though, with my first play through of White, I didn't have that problem and I didn't have it with my play through of White 2 either, but postgame is really boring regardless of how much they added compared to how much you could do in Gen IV, so it's a bit of a disappointment regardless. Though, in Gen V's defense, I did play through my Black version at least 20 times so I feel like I ran the region dry.

Well, it is really you (and whoever else is that way), but that's not to imply that it's any sort of fault. It's just that different games appeal to different people, for I-have-no-idea-what reasons. That's not (or at least shouldn't be) an indictment of the games - it's just differing tastes.

I'm that way with the Johto games - I've never finished any of them. I couldn't make it through Crystal back in the day, and I tried again (more than once) with Heart Gold, but just couldn't do it. The furthest I made it was in HG, to... whatever the city is that's like a big open plaza (Ecruteak City - just looked it up). It just feels like a chore to play it, and I always lose interest. It's odd to me that so many other people love those games so much while they just don't interest me at all, but that's the way it is. And apparently that's the way it is for you and the OP and others and gen V (or other people and other gens). I don't think it means anything other than that tastes vary.

Not for me, I'm the opposite as well, either Black/White or Black2/White2 once I start playing it, I can't stop for hours - all of the new places to visit, new Pokemon, different storyline, and most of my favorite Pokemon are on both games.

I really liked black and white and b2/w2. A game that I think is a chore to play is runescape.
