2nd Gen Why didn't Fuchsia city's Gym have any poison-types?

That's a neat observation (leastways for Gen 1 - it wasn't the case for GSC). Lots of Drowzees and Hypnos and Kadabras, with only three trainers (including Koga) with poison types... and for some reason Koga in Yellow had three Venonat apparently? =/

Maybe they meant for the theme of the gym to be originally to be more about deception or sneakyness which I guess psychic types could qualify under, or it was a curve ball they threw in, and to make it a bit harder to breeze through with a Psychic type.

I always thought they were aiming for a ninja based gym, psychic and poison would be a part of ninja based moves. I think i remember Koga using Muks and Weezings, and some poison in the actual trainer teams. But you have to remember your not the only trainer collecting badges, other trainers could just be challenging the gym, hence why they have psychic, they got the wiser and used poison's weakness.

I always thought that the Gym Trainers were part of the gym, not trainers about to fight the gym. For instance, there is a trainer in the first gym that says "you're light years away from facing brock" and in the second gym yet another that tells you "misty can wait". Seems like they're teamed up with the leader.

This is more apparent in later generations like RSE, where the Fortree trainers mention that they train under Winnona.

I always thought that the developers thought "hmm, what kind of trainers would fit in a ninja-themed gym? And somehow, they came up with Tamers (yeah, I could see that) and Jugglers (juggling knives perhaps?) and the Pokemon that Tamers and Jugglers used had already been selected.

If they were going for a sneaky or ninja themed gym, I wonder why Scyther didn't appear.
On subject though, it's not like they were strapped for choice when it came to poison Pokemon. Odd how no Gastly/Haunters were present in a gym like that.

Maybe because there were a ridiculously low number of Ghost Type moves, and it's line is also weak to Psychic, making it easy to breeze through with Psychics.
Scyther would be interesting though
And about the Psychics, probably because to make it harder to solo the gym with a Psychic Type

I always thought the trainers in the gyms weren't representatives of the gyms, but people under someone's guidance. They're learning from the gym leader battle techniques and other good stuff like that. So, using that logic, the trainers inside a gym don't necessarily need to have the same type Pokémon as the gym leader. Or they probably just did it to give you a hard time getting through the gym, since by then you would know that psychic is super effective against poison. :/ *shrug*
