Magikarp Jump is a surprisingly effective game for relaxing. While there is a significant waiting period between training sessions, it is rather calming to just feed your Magikarp for a few minutes.

so many cute small features like the random encounters and the manaphy frenzies to break up the monotony of what would otherwise be a very simple repetitive game.

It's like... weirdly sentimental? It's so cute how this little village like gets absolutely the worst luck but they all band together and make the best of the whole situation. They just, like, love Magikarps? And the Magikarp feel loved too. It's really sweet.
