Windows XP SP3's just around the corner

Just a while after I upgrade to Vista, thinking Windows XP needs to upgrade; it sends out a new service pack. =P

Either way, I still feel Vista's better than XP. It works faster, anyway.{The only thing that annoys me is the Paranoid Security. Windows Needs permission to continue...}

In what way did you not? Gaming and everything else for me is practically identicle to XP.

I notice a difference I think because my hardware isn't great.

I ran both Beta SP1 and SP1 for Vista.
Beta SP1 SUUCCCKKKKKKKKEEEEEEEEEEEDDDDDDDDDD! Programs were taking dumps left and right.
SP1: Not much of an improvement, I run it on a machine thats not so good (2.4 Ghz P4, 2GB PC3200, 256MB PCI Nvidia 6200), I still have program issues, and I think using Readyboost for my system actually made more of a difference. XD

Disable UAC then, it's pretty much mandatory.

Err...UAC? {Sorry, I don't have much idea about computers and stuff, lol.}

User Account Control, it's in your User Account options via the classic Control Panel.

Hmm......I keyed Service Pack 3 into Microsoft .com and nothing came up. but that link you supplied has it. Weird

Well I think it's RTM currently, which means you are unable to openly download it from M$ at the moment.

However it's the same as it will be once it is released on the M$ site.

Whoa, thanks for the info Gerri Shin! Dang, the last service pack for Windows XP...everyone is switching to Vista. I don't want to switch to Vista yet, because I heard it is still buggy. I guess I will keep an eye of when Microsoft will fix those bugs...

And maybe I will have to switch to Vista. D:

Can I still use XP even though there will be no more service packs?

according to my knowledge, Microsoft will continue to provide support for XP until the end of July. after that you may continue to use XP, however Microsoft will not provide as much support as they do now.

Great, that is wonderful(I want them to continue D=). And I only have 512MB of RAM...so I don't think I could get Vista. ^^; Because it need at least 1GB of RAM...

I am in trouble...

I don't want to come home one day and find out my OS is messed up! Thanks for your input Gerri! =D I will see what I can do.

well I really don't see any point in going o vista just yet myself so I'm going to use XP for my Windows needs for a few more years. I'd like to see what MS has planned for Windows 7 (I think It's codenamed Vienna right now) in 2010 before I actually decide to move on.
As long as you have your computer's reinstall discs you should be just fine, OS-wise, if something does go wrong. MS will still have SP3 for download for a few more years.

They will, what a relief. Yeah I still got my reinstall discs for XP. I didn't think of that, lol. I am glad I will be able to use XP for a while longer. I am not ready to switch yet. I probably will end up with a new computer that has Vista someday. If that happens, I won't sweat it. Right now I can't do anything.

Don't use Vista if you have only 1GB of RAM, 2GB is mandatory pretty much.. That's if you plan on doing anything smoothly.

the only current problem I've faced from upgrading to SP3 from the RC2 is that I need to disable and enable my internets to use the internet

Ah SP3. Something that has been long awaited.
It does suck that they aren't going to give XP support after July. Alot of people have been downgrading due to the mistake called Vista. >.>

Anyways I'm looking forward to the updates. Security fixes are good. Especially if they are critical. I just hope they don't gimp the ports again.

I'll install it on my XP machines, but for day to day stuff I'm pretty happy with Vista SP1. Seriously! I tried it early last year, and only managed about a month. I decided to try again with SP1, and it's running great!

I am running the 64bit version with 4gigs of ram, for what it's worth :p

XP has support until April 2014, they just won't be selling it anymore.
