1. They're making a profit, people are buying it, people are willing to pay that much for a quality product. I don't see the problem.

2. I've never once had a problem with MS Office--any version of it--and Vista? I've said many times that I haven't had major problems with that either.

3. What's wrong with that? Apple is gaining in the computer market, so Microsoft is losing some of its monopoly, but for the most part, everyone uses Windows because it's cheap and oh-so-accessible. Office is a great suite of programs--expensive, yes, but businesses and schools can buy licenses in bulk for a discounted price (same goes for Windows) and, again, since everyone uses it, it makes for better compatibility and smoother running. It's convenient.

Yes. It's price gouging. A MS Office cost over $100 for the most basic. I've seen a Office program witch had everything you need business or other wise for $50.

Bill Gates has put an idea in your head that Windows is the best. You have this idea and now you believe Windows is the best no matter what. Ideas are like diseases they spread. Bill Gates having basically all the power over OS and Office programs. Told people his products are the best. That one idea has spread and now almost the entire world believes that. It's a bad idea and it has caused a plague and Windows can price gouge and make junk and what not and people will just buy it no matter what.

Referring to what I just said. Monopolies are evil and Bill Gates have even the government believing that and in turn the government won't do anti trust on him. I hope to cure you of the evil idea. I know the government believes Microsoft's a good company that is fair and stuff but people are getting cured soon the government will too. Which is good. Windows as a lawsuit and It's pretty pleasing. I too was sick with that idea as well so I know how it feels.

I believe you may be referring to something like StarOffice or other programs, but the fact remains that pretty much every office suite aside from iWork is based off of MS Office.

So by taking the logic of your first statement in this paragraph you've got the idea that Linux is the best from Linus Torvalds then.
Of course Gates is going to tell the public that his companies products are the best, It's Called Marketing! Every company does it.

I'm pretty sure that the only one here who thinks Microsoft is full of evil ideas, is you. While they don't produce the best OS's out there, they do make one that works and that's the main thing people care about.

No. I'm smarter then a lot people. That's why their's censorship. A lot people can't handle thinking for themselves I can. Someday when the government gets out of that belief, I hope Bill Gates will be censored like it anti no thing. Censorship is a great thing. I didn't chose Linux because of Linus but because Linux is free and I didn't want to give MS money for XP. Besides I became smarter and my superior intelligence keeps me okay but as for a lot of people out there. They need censorship. I am pro censorship because what I say is better then what a lot of people say and it's the same way with how I think too. Censorship works, free thought for all doesn't. When a idiot can go out into the streets and say what ever he wants. It causes problems. Bill Gate being a owner of a monopoly basically has that power. He has the power to make anyone in the world a windows drones. I know you're not one but ideas can be dangerous and being such should be control and censored when ever possible. What I say is safe to hear, what others say may not. The news should be censored too btw.

I don't think Bill Gates has put strange ideas in my head, thanks. :| I realize there are other OSes out there, and I realize that in some respects, they can do things a lot better than Windows. Did I ever once say, in ANY of my posts, that Windows was the "best"? No. I simply refuted your point that it's "the worst" and doesn't work, etc. by reiterating that it DOES in fact work, and well, too. And I still realize that some people have major problems with it and just can't deal with the OS, but it's not a bad product overall. <_< It may not be as good as some other programs, or it may not be fully worthwhile to upgrade from XP yet, but it's not utter garbage like you're making it out to be.

As for Bill Gates (and Microsoft, for that matter), saying it's the best. They're allowed to do that. Marketing, etc. Gerri explains it in his post. They aren't going to get very far in business by saying "well, our OS is pretty good. It may not be the best, but hey, it still works, you know, so that's not too bad." No, they want to promote it as best they can. <_<; There's a difference between being brainwashed instantly by marketing and, you know, picking out what's real and not.

I don't even know what you're talking about. You make it sound like it's a big conspiracy and that Bill Gates (who donates like millions of dollars to charity every year) is evil, wtf. :| Monopolies are bad, yeah, but hey, what do you want Microsoft to do? Cut all their prices and drive themselves broke!? Stop selling Windows altogether for a few years to give the other OS developers back a little marketshare? I seriously don't know where you're going with this.

Uhhh, again, I don't have a clue what you're going on about, but I can tell it's off-topic. We're discussing Windows here. Not censorship. If you want to discuss censorship, create another thread.

Microsoft is a company, and you are going to see business practices like "charging according to the market" in ANY company. Windows itself is actually a fairly widespread OS, and it is usable with multiple systems, unlike the more exclusive OS X. Of course, the ease of finding a copy of Windows brings the market's focus to it and allows Microsoft set the price almost however they want. As for Linux, the way I understand it is that you have to download the OS, which requires an able internet connection & browser, which in turn requires an OS on a computer. Therefore, you need to already have an OS in order to get an OS. :\

By the way, you don't have to get the latest models of Office or Windows. I've seen XP upgrades go in stores for around $100 and old Office versions go for less. You can easily just go with those.

And......

It's good to hear that you're not a Windows drone and believe it's not the best.

You agree that he's lying when he says his products are the best though. A lot of people listen to ads and then instantly think it's great.

You make it sound like it's a big conspiracy and that Bill Gates (who donates like millions of dollars to charity every year) is evil, wtf. :| Monopolies are bad, yeah, but hey, what do you want Microsoft to do? I know he gives millions of dollars to charity. I know the amount he has donated is in the billions. Tell me why the government, business, and schools use windows more then every other OS and Office program known to man. Why hasn't he suffered from anti trust?

You agree that he's lying when he says his products are the best though. A lot of people listen to ads and then instantly think it's great.
Well, first of all, I'd like you to find a press release or official commercial, etc. where MS explicitly states that Windows is the best OS. Second, don't put words in my mouth. I'm not saying he's lying, I'm saying he's marketing like any decent company should do to sell. Just remember EVERY company sells their products like that. Watch TV for a few minutes and pay attention to the commercial. I guarantee you'll eventually see something that you think is an awful product, but damn if they aren't going to sell it as best they can. I mean, Apple does the same thing with their commercials--may not outright say "We're better than Windows" but it's heavily implied and I don't see you complaining about that.

They use Windows because it's more suited to them. Its easy to use, most people grew up with it (or at least started using computers with a Windows PC), and it's compatible with almost everything. There's so much more software out there for Windows than for any other OS, and chances are, for a lot of businesses that use specific software on their networks, Windows is just the best choice. It's not a matter of Gates blackmailing or lying or... conspiring with the government or whatever you're accusing Microsoft of doing, it's just because Windows works and it's compatible.

Apple's a underdog. I don't have a problem with them. I know some products are bad on TV but they don't usually least long.

I can't argue with that but my opinion still stands.

Hooray for endless go-nowhere threads. All operating systems have their respective strengths and weaknesses. As far as I'm concerned, /end thread.

Sorry, but the number of times you just contradicted yourself is astounding.
Haha Pwned XD
Took the words right from my mouth..

But here's another silly thread... Supertails, you're just proposing ridiculous and exagerrated opinions which you believe to be correct, with very little/no evidence to support them besides you're biased viewpoint and a personal issue (boo-hoo internet doesn't work- therefore Windows is pure evil...) And then going completely off-topic in an attempt to boost credibility. ¬_¬

Though tempting, I'll refrain from posting in this thread out of pure pity.. ^^

Dude. I'm just warning people about Vista. The internet is a very important part in peoples lives. Also if the internet didn't work their might be other parts that didn't work. I just believe MS should have done a better job. I know Vista is much better now and that their are much fewer bugs but I feel Vista isn't ready yet. I never really said MS was evil. I just feel it hurt a lot of people and ripped them off when they brought Vista in. How can you explain all those people going back to XP? MS hurt me and it has hurt so many other people. I feel MS Office is a ripoff too as it does the same thing as Open and Neo. I just don't believe it right.

So it's okay for companies to make commercials that say they're the best if they're not as successful as others? How is that fair? o_O

It helps make for better diversity. Plus it doesn't have the same power to control people as MS does and to my knowledge Mac works a lot better right now too.

just because you couldn't get the internet to work for you when you used vista for all of, what 2 weeks, doesn't mean it won't work for others. besides, MS is releasing SP1 for Vista sometime in the next couple months which will take care of a bunch of current problems.
and I'm sorry to say, but your logic on MS Office is backwards. Open and Neo were based off of MS office, so technically they are the rip-off of MS Office.

It helps make for better diversity. Plus it doesn't have the same power to control people as MS does and to my knowledge Mac works a lot better right now too.

While I won't lie, I've been having way fewer problems now that I switched to Mac, I will say that most of the problems I had in Windows were caused by me. MS doesn't control any of it's consumers. Most of the people who downgraded to XP were people who encountered problems like you and decided to go back to something they know well, and not try something completely new like Linux or Mac, so please stop trying to cast this Big Brother-type shadow onto MS.

All you're doing is picking and twisting the little things out of people's real opinions in which they include proof (which you don't, I might add) to better suit your own dilusion of how everything works.

As an example to back my opinion of you up, I looked back at the one paragraph Lightning wrote. It was a nice detailed paragraph, and you replied with:

Apple's a underdog. I don't have a problem with them. I know some products are bad on TV but they don't usually least long.

You made a ridiculous claim (that Apple being an underdog = better in your eyes) in regards to one of the little details Lightning made in her post. Grow up and learn how to properly back an opinion rather than spout complete nonsense.

Theirs a SP1 coming out? I'll wait and see how people feel before installing the back up disks. But that makes me wonder though. If I reinstall those disk will I get the SP1 too?

I'm already grown so you don't have to worry about me. I don't have any delusions, just fact. That wasn't a ridiculous claim. It's true Apple is less successful and I have backed up my facts and well too.

Ok, I have an opinion on Vista, simply because I am not technical on computers or computer swavy at all, and I know little on what you guys are talking bout. I am what was mentioned as "the average computer user" that hasn't much knowlegde. So I should have some nice perspective from a non-technical standpoint.

I have little to no problems with Vista. It was an adjustment that I gotten used to mighty fast. After a while, it was annoying to go back to a non-Vista program. It was so user friendly. Buttons made it easy to use.

These facts you made that I've seen on this thread are the same things you did on the other threads you've made. Give a bias rant with little facts, while aruing feebily, using your sorry opinion as fact. In order to "attempt" to make an argument, you pick little things to argue apout, twisting words in the process, while making random & off-topic comments to try & make yourself look good

What the hell is this? Smarter than most people? So many mispellings, errors, and it plain makes no sense. Superior intellegence? Each & Every one of your threads (& post) prove the exact opposite. This ranting thread that has no real disscusion should be locked, like your other ones.

EDIT:You did the EXACT thing Ammidivision said you'd do. His post wasn't about Apples being less sucessful. It was about how you pick minor things out of a REAL post in order to make pointless opinions.

I don't do that and I've never twisted facts. It's true Vista's getting better but it's also true that people have been angry about Vista too. I know Open and Neo are based of MS. I just heard of SP1 and would like to learn more about it.

It makes prefect sense. People just don't understand that's all.

Uh, well, if your internet wasn't working, that's when you troubleshoot to figure out why. If it really is a fault of the OS, bug tech support so they know something's up--that's how ALL OSes press out the problems. :\ Just because one thing doesn't work for you does not mean the whole operating system was made poorly. Honestly, have a little common sense. They aren't going to release something they've spent millions of dollars on if it's a crappy product; they'd delay it even longer until it WASN'T a crappy product. As for not saying MS is evil...
Monopolies are evil and Bill Gates have even the government believing that and in turn the government won't do anti trust on him. I hope to cure you of the evil idea.
Also Windows is basically a monopoly. I know Windows isn't a monopoly but it acts like it. 90% or more makes it very close. It's enough for monopoly power though.
:\
It helps make for better diversity. Plus it doesn't have the same power to control people as MS does and to my knowledge Mac works a lot better right now too.
...I still don't see why it's fine for one company to oversell (well, maybe not oversell, but you know what I mean) whereas another company in the SAME BUSINESS, shouldn't just because they have more of the market share. Especially since, pricewise, I find Macs a lot worse.

That said, going back to Windows' pricing, let's look at Macs for a minute: I mean, it's almost pointless to buy the OS on its own (which is why you seem to think MS is ripping so many people off--because Vista on its own costs so much) because what are you going to put Mac OS X on? Another Mac. And if you already own a Mac? You already have Mac OS because that's really the only benefit to owning a Mac--the OS it comes bundled with. All you're doing is upgrading, in that case, and the stand-alone cost for OS X is the SAME (or about the same, depending where you get it) as a Vista upgrade. :| So I honestly still don't see where this price thing is coming from. Linux doesn't count since as far as I know, no one charges for it.

I guess you're right about that though. I didn't know I called MS evil. Oh well. Anyway, I'll see what happens when SP1 comes out. Hopefully I will be worth going back to. I still want to know if I'll get SP1 when I reinstall Vista on my PC.
