Odd how no-one has voted when almost everyone has said Brazil or Spain.

I don't think Portugal are up there, they are at the top of the second level of teams for me. Italy should really have a go with Cassano, he's been good since getting away from Madrid.

Anyone got any stars for the future to watch out for in the tournament?

Ozil from Germany seems all set up to become a star while at South Africa.
 
Hernandez, Dos Santos and Carlos Vela from Mexico. Those three have good potential and will rise in this world cup. Hernandez already got signed by Manchester United.

Yeah, seen a few goals Hernandez has scored too, could be pretty special.

I'm afraid I agree about Portugal. They haven't been the same team since Euro 2008. Also, they did only draw against Cape Verde Islands.

Any stars for the future? Lennon worldwide could be one.

Players who could emerge in the tournament, Iaquinta of Italy and Suazo of Chile.

Good point, I think Lennon is a good player already and he is only 23 so has time to improve.

Matias Fernandez & Rodrigo Tello have the chance to emerge as good players. The only time I've been to see Manchester United play we were against Besiktas and Tello scored a cracker not sure if he is that good other than that and he is 30 so not long left in the tank but still an amazing goal.

Yes, everyone blames the manager. He's an idiot and everyone hates him, but after this World Cup he's going away :D Everyone was surprised Benzema was not in. But actually if you haven't noticed there are no Arabic players in the team for once. Maybe they caused problems.

My sources tell me that Laurent Blanc will be your next manager. Seeing what he's done at Bordeaux, I'd say he's a good manager.

People seem to be forgetting the hemisphere rule, It's worked nearly all the time, When it's being hosted in the southern hemisphere, a team from the southern hemisphere basically always wins it and vica versa. Think about it, because I cba to type it all out.

Wait, you're right but there are 3 exceptions, two of which have come relatively recently.
1958 in Sweden
1994 in the USA
2002 in South Korea/Japan

Barney, reading your post initally I thought the second part was also to do with why you think Serbia will top it. Thinking it over now you surely didn't mean that so what does the second part relate to, people thinking Spain will win it?

Probably. Spain still have more than enough quality to win it. It's going to be a great World Cup.

As much as it hurts me to say it, i reckon England will win it. Just something about them under Capello. If not England then it'll be the Spanish/Germans.

Ugh feel dirty all over.

There is always an outside chance they could do well, but i highly doubt it. Never say never though remember Turkey in the Euros, no one expected them to reach that stage!
 
I also highly doubt they'll do well. Still, anything could happen. For example all the players in the other 31 squads could catch swine flu.

Oh yeah I was referring to the Spain thing.


But anyway my reasoning for Serbia is thus, They actually have an incredibly strong squad, that no one seems to realise, and I can seriously just see them beating Germany and topping it, and also because it would be typical for England to end up getting Germany in the last 16.

Can't see Germany scraping a place in the knock-outs! They should go through easily. I think we should be ok but it will get close in the knock-outs; as always! XD
