Would Michael Vick be seen as a criminal in the Pokémon world, or just another "cruel" trainer like Paul?

I... don't think it's really comparable. I had to look him up but he was arrested for illegal dog fighting, right? Since Pokemon (animal?) battles are not only legal but encouraged in the Pokemon world, I assume the only way you'd get arrested for battling is if you were specifically abusing Pokemon or battling in inhumane conditions or something. :( *shrug*

I guess it would depend. If he's just making pokemon battle, then no, he wouldn't be seen as a criminal at all. However, if he were making them fight to the death as well as killing the ones he determined as weak, I'm pretty sure he'd be a criminal haha.

It actually seems to me that Pokemon battles are kind of like dogfighting in the real world. Minus the killing of course.

well, considering the animals are dying, maybe or maybe not. Apparently pokemon die from time to time in battle, but no one goes to jail for it.

    This is something to ponder.

Kind of interesting to think, but more then likely no, unless he was killing them or treating them terribly

Hard to say, but if I had to guess yep, he would. It is never clearly defined in the series what a Pokemon battle to the death would be like and what consequences would result from it (or at least I don't think there has). Also, Even if he did fight Pokemon to the death, how could they prove he forced them to? The Pokemon could have chosen to take the fight that far. On the contrary, dog fighting is a form of gambling. I don't know. This is an interesting matter though...

No beause you are suppost to battle in pokemon.

I thought he bet on the dogs, or at the very least, money was involved.

That's illegal, especially because if I remember correctly, an episode of the anime outlined that gambling on Pokemon battles was illegal. (DURR.) Therefore, yes.
