Absolutely not. I found B&W graphics horrendous, like an awkward attempt at high quality vs nostalgia. I don't use the 3D feature of the 3DS but I largely prefer Gen 6 and Gen 7's graphics. I feel more connected to the Pokémon, they don't look like a drawing anymore, they feel more alive, and they are much more pretty/badass
They look more alive, but 2D sprites will always be better. They looked far more colourful and pretty, and showed off every detail even though being smaller than 3D models. 3D models were cool for all the console versions of Pokemon, because you could see them in their full splendour on your big screen tv, putting 3D models on the small 3DS wasn't a good idea. Only Pokemon Amie was good with them.
In my opinion, I don't think the colours were better, just annoyingly fluorescent. It's true that 3D models have slightly more faded colours, but I feel they fit the Pokémon better (for most at least). I can't see more details either, I just feel they are more pixelized. Even on smaller screens, which is really weird looking to me. The animations were also pretty awful compared to the new 3D models, like what the hell is wrong with Espeon's tail...the more I look at it the more I dislike it lol![]()
I haven't played the 3DS Games yet, so I can't really comment on the in-Game difference, but I have to agree on this. Some of the 3D models are very poorly done & visually very unappealing, some cute Pokemon (Marshtomp for e.g.) now look like zombies. Even the colours seem to be paler, compared to 2D models.Well, considering the 3D models are absolute garbage, I would more than welcome a return to 2D sprite models. The 3DS titles just feel washed out and flat, like second-rate plasticine bootlegs, and this is just visually, it has nothing to do with performance.
