So yeah, ive been messing around on showdown trying to construct my ideal first team. This is what I have as of now. I haven't actually got this team on my x and y cartridge yet, I would rather have it worked out to (near) perfection before investing time in breeding and ev training. That being said....

    Rotom W/ Choice Scarf
    Timid
    252 Special Attack/252 spe/4 hp
    Hydro Pump
    Thunder Bolt
    Volt Switch
    Trick

I know that hidden power ice would probably be better than t bolt, but I don't think I have the patience required for a good hidden power. Also, I like to have an electric stab that doesn't make my switch out. Other than that, pretty self explanitory. It revenge kills and nerfs walls with the scarf. Not much else to say about it other than that, it does its job well.

    Crobat W/Black Sludge/Life Orb
    Jolly
    Infiltrator 252 atk/252 spe/4 hp
    Brave Bird
    U turn
    Defog
    Roost
One pokemon on the team in particular really needs rocks off the field, so thats where crobat comes in. The fact that it isn't grounded means it's great speed can't be reduced by sticky web, nerfing its effectiveness. Not being able to be spin blocked helps as well. Infiltrator makes dealing with sub users much easier, which makes it easier to switch in on certain pokemon.

    Ferrothorn W/Rocky Helmet
    Relaxed
    Iron Barbs 252 hp/ 48 def/ 208 sp def
    Stealth Rock
    Leech Seed
    Thunder Wave
    Power Whip
Some people have said that I shouldn't run sr and defog on the same team, but sometimes I like to have the option to set up entry hazzards. It's more useful if the opponents hazard setter has been k.o'd and has had their hazards they set up already defoged. Also, Iron Barbs+Rocky helmet tends to give mega Kangaskhan a bad time.

    Vaporeon W/Leftovers
    Bold
    Water Absorb 248 hp/252 def/8 spe
    Scald
    Wish
    Protect
    Roar
This one is quite the important team member. Wish helps keep Ferro in the game, and seeing as the 2 have good defensive synergy, passing wishes isn't all that hard. Roar keeps various set up sweepers from getting out of hand (Volcarona/Gyarados/Dragonite/Malamar, etc). Of Course, the chance of burn with scald is never a bad thing.

    Zygarde W/Leftovers/Lum Berry
    Adamant
    252 hp/252 atk/4 def
    Coil
    Earthquake
    Stone Edge
    Extremespeed
Very few people seem to think Zygarde is worth a team slot, but he can be quite a boon if used right. With its impressive bulk, it isn't too hard to set up a coil or two. If you set up and your opponent has nothing in the way of harmful status or special ice/dragon/fairy moves, Zygarde is perfectly capable of sweeping. With a coil boosted stone edge, even Togekiss, the bane of many a dragon's existance, isn't a very reliable counter.

    Charizard W/ Charizardite X
    Adamant
    252 atk/252 spe/4 hp
    Dragon Dance
    Flare Blitz
    Dragon Claw
    Earthquake
Zygarde is my bulky sweeper, Charizard acts as my pure offensive sweeper. Crobat keep rocks of the field for it, vaporeon can occasionally pass it a wish to give it a second chance at sweeping, and it forms the final part of my fire/water/grass core. Having a physical sweeper immune to burn is helpfull as well, letting charizard stay in on things that zygarde can't. I had tried a mixed meazard X before, but its damage dealing capacity was a bit underwhelming, so I made it a pure physical attacker instead.

    Changes I've considered:
The primary one is replacing ferrothorn with Trevenant. If defog/stealth rock proves to be THAT bad of a combo, its a possible alternative. Though I do enjoy the massive amount of residual damage that ferro inflicts on physical attackers... Other than that, I haven't thought of a ton of big changes I could make to improve the team.

So there you have it. For the record, I'm 21st on the current ou leaderboard on the smogon pokemon showdown server atm, so I assume I'm doing SOMETHING right XD. Of course, I'm open to any ideas that could make the team better.

Looks good so far, but I don't think it's necessary for Charizard to learn Earthquake at this point, as the only notable Pokemon that gets OHKOed from this move is Heatran, which isn't currently available. I'd use Roost instead, as not only it's reliable recovery, but it restores health taken from Stealth Rock damage as well. With my little advice you should break into the top 20 soon.

Actually, having Charizard X keep Earthquake has its merits. Azumarill (and to a lesser extent, Carbink) walls Charizard X entirely. If Azumarill is up, then Charizard without Earthquake either has to hit it with a pitifully weak Flare Blitz or switch out. Roost is still valid for a form of recovery.

I'll test roost to see how helpfull it is in comparison to eq. Its not something ive thought about or tried yet, so I may as well see how well it works.
Are there any people who think I shouldn't run rocks/defog, and should go for trevenant rather than ferrrothorn? I'm curious about what the general consensus for this matter is.

Some people use Trevenant because of its higher Attack compared to Ferrothorn, spinblocking utility, ability to recover HP easily, whether it be through Horn Leech, Leech Seed and/or Harvest + Sitrus Berry. However, its defenses are pretty low for a defensive Pokemon. Ferrothorn has a more reliable typing, can set up hazards and be a good check/counter to nearly every Water Pokemon. (Trevenant is somewhat risky against Water Pokemon that use Ice Beam, though it can take one or two with the proper EV investment)

Seeing as this team doesn't rely as much on hazards as others do, I don't think having a spin blocker is that important for me. The higher attack would be nice, but I do have enough pokemon capable of punching holes in the other team already, so i guess i would prefer the better defense and better typing. Wish passing helps with Thorns whole lack of recovery problem. I guess that means ill stick with thorn. Thanks for helping me put things into perspecitve.
Also, I tried giving charizard roost....and lost 3 games in a row XD. Its possible I just had bad luck, but I'm thinking I may work better with greater coverage.
