Here's one of the longest debates ever in the school I go to. But.....in your opinion - Xbox 360 Or Sony PS3?

PS3 is a win for me.
Even if 360 has more games/better games, the PS3 provides what i need at the same time. It's not pricey anymore.

    I like both, as much as I used to like only the 360 or PS3. They both have their pros and cons. Though I do want a PS3 at some point in my life XD;

Ughh the last thread like this ended atrociously. The community just isn't mature enough to discuss this properly. Either you get people getting too angsty or just saying "XBOX360/PS3 BECASE IT IS BEST" without giving any real reason. You also end up with a bulk of people who have never played the opposite console.

I'm going to go for PS3, because it has (In my opinion) a wider library of AAA exclusives, is more reliable, cheaper (in the long run it is a LOT cheaper) has MGS4 (this is actually main reason lol) I like the controller better, PSN is free (and really simple to use, not to mention is getting party chat and the option to play your own music like on Live!" and the PS3 has all that extra media junk that I am a sucker for. Although 360 has more games, I often ask how many of them are worth over 8/10 and I dare say less than half of them do. I find games like Halo to be a bore and are highly over rated etc. Besides in fairness 90% of this gens best games are on both systems. I don't really think that it matterss what one I like best, both are fantastic systems.

I guess i failed to mention those things in my post. MGS4 was the main reason why i bought a PS3. That one game was more than enough for me to choose ps3 over 360. I have played Halo so much over at friends its pretty boring, apart from when your playing 4 players. I guess the only game i would be missing is Gears of War, but MGS4 made up for that loss.

    Xbox 360.
    Why, I hear you ask?
First off, It has a much better game library.
This spans from games like Banjo & Kazoiie, Gears of War, Halo, Star Ocean: The Last Hope, Last Remnant, Lost Oddysey... [I could go on].
My point is, I find there are alot more titles that I would buy on xbox 360. Anything decent on PS3 is also on the Xbox, Like CoD4, CoD5, Final Fantasy XIII, etc.
Secondly. The Xbox 360 has a much better update system. Instead of updating games every day, patches are released every month or so when necessary. And they don't take forever when you actually need to install them, which is what most of my friends complain about with their PS3s.
Thirdly. I really don't see the difference between 720p and 1080p.
After all, both the Xbox 360's and PS3's 720p is just amplified to 1080p. There are very few "True 1080p" games on PS3 for me to give a damn, quite frankly.
Fourth. What's inside the actual machine. Yeah. Honestly, I don't give a damn that the PS3 has twice the processing power. The point is, that both consoles play the same games in the same quality, and it doesn't really make a difference that the PS3 has "Better Components" that it's not even using.

PS3 doesn't have daily updates. Ughh i hate it when people like you enter a debate with false statements. PS3 updates and patches like, what, every month tops. And unlike with 360, the PS3 updates actually, you know, add to your gaming experience. As for whats inside the machines, a 120GB HDD and built in WiFi are a lot better than what, 60GB and no WiFi?

As for "all PS3s good games are on 360"
Metal gear Solid 4, Uncharted 1&2, Killzone 2 (it';s like Halo but good, try it sometime ;]) Heavy Rain, Ratchet and Clank, Gran Turismo, Fat princess, Wip3out HD, SuperStardustHD, Warhawk and MAG (just to name a handful that are not and will not be on 360) would like to say Hi

Better games, Live Parties, Natal soon on the way, No idiots blasting music over the mic. You can guess who I'm going for, 360.

I respect that PS3 is a brilliant console especially when the Wii exists but the only thing going for it against the 360 is extra memory and Blu-Ray, both of which aren't needed. Maybe a seriously madly hardcore player will need more memory than 60GB but I doubt many of them are around.

There actually isnt much difference at the moment but the Live Update coming next month will make a big gap.

I usually play PSN but the online network on 360 is better personally. People are easier to connect with and its much more detailed. Im actually buying an XBox 360: Elite this week.

I disagree with all of those points, but that is only my opinion.

And I would rather have music than have the idiotic M$ fanboys over the mics.

It doesn't matter who is on our mics because if we aren't wearing them then we can hardly hear, unlike on PS3 were it blasts through the TV and you have to mute everyone.

As I said its a good console but there are too many people who think they're gangstas on it.

EDIT: What is going to close it exactly?

    I would say ps3(though I don't own one)
This is because when I played the ps3 it was a good gaming experiance though 360 also has good game playing experiance.
The thing I don't like about 360 is the red ring. I've had to send mine off already after 9 months, ps3 lasts longer I think depends how much you play it.

    So ps3 for me.

    Neither.

The PC is the superior platform in my case. The ability to play with a mouse and keyboard and the huge amount of user created content (among other things) highly outweigh any potential advantages (as if) a console might have.

I like my consoles to not explode.
Here we have the first immature post.
I'm going to be blunt here and point out that only pretentious douchebags write MS with a $ sign.
You might as well just write $ony as they're much more profit oriented than Microsoft could ever hope to be. But I guess you fanboys wouldn't be able to tell with all your brown nosing.

I would buy a PS3 for the controller alone...But that's just me, I hate the Xbox controller with a passion.

    Also, £250 for a PS3. Or £150 for an Xbox...But pay around £50-60 for 2 years of good online play...And that's standard...Gold is a whole other story.

Also, PS3 exclusives >> Xbox Exclusives.

    bring it.
