All in all, including Blu-Ray is just one more way to jack up the price and make more dough. I don't think it's that bad of an idea though. The PS2 DVD player was horrid. Me and my roommate use his PS2 for a DVD Player because we didn't feel like buying a seperate unit, and it's a real pain in the butt. o.o

Nah, not the password deal. It doesn't read most burnt discs, and for some reason the volume on a lot of DVDs plays extremely low. Like we'll turn the volume up as far as it can go, but will barely be able to hear it. Then when we stop the DVD from playing and put the TV back on the volume will blast. o.O

For me, it seems to ask for a password for every single disk.. >> it gets so annoying.
I never use my PS2 as a DVD player, though~ Since I have a DVD player beside it X3; so meh~

Yeah, our PS2 always asks for a password too. It definately gets annoying. We should probably just buy a DVD Player, seeing as they don't cost too much at all anymore. Then again...we are poor college students. o_o
 
Yeah, I don't regret getting a GCN because I already had a DVD player. Why would I need another one? XD

And furthermore...Sony's keynote went HORRIBLY yesterday or whatever. I was reading some news pieces, and the PS3 isn't looking so hot in everyone's eyes.

Actually, it just allows discs with bigger storage. It ain't that much better, just a thinner, and bluer ray.

And at the current time it's read speed is slower than that of a normal DVD.

Moreover, the realease games aren't even using Blu-ray discs, since they aren't filling up all the space possible.

Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. has announced that it would trim the pricing of its highly-anticipated PlayStation 3 game console in Japan by more than $60 to make it more affordable. But analysts claim that the amount of such relatively low-cost game machines will be limited initially.

"The [PlayStation 3 core] game console will retail for ¥49 980 ($430) from November 11 and comes with a HDMI connection that allows high-definition pictures," Ken Kutaragi, head of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc., said at the Tokyo Game Show. The company previously said it would sell a lower-end model for ¥59 800 ($513), excluding tax, notes Bloomberg news-agency.

But yeah, Blu-Ray is really they're only selling point, without it, all they would have is a beefed up PS2.

And I also think that it is worthless.

Gamecube was okay.. but I seriously only have a couple games that I like from it .__.;;
