Chapter 1.6 Ecruteak City/Route 37 (Kimono Girls) – Day 2

It was late morning when Rayne and her Pokemon were ready. After being returned from Nurse Joy, all three of them had beautiful, shimmered fur and feathers (in Raenhik's case). Their eyes glimmered and Rayne knew that the battle with her mother's young team, though still defeated, had been good for all of them. They gained new perspectives, new strategies for combating weaknesses and expressing their strengths. Now, it was time for the real test. The battle with the Kimono Girls. After that, Rayne knew she wanted to sign up for the gym match.
Merissa had already gone home. After all, she had a lot of different kinds of Pokemon she needed to look after.
"Alright," Rayne cleared her throat and clapped lightly and caught her Pokemon's attention. "I think it's time we get over to the Dance Theatre and sign up for that match." With her Pokemon at her heels.
The Dance Theatre was a famed spot in all of Johto, and now, on the days they weren't rehearsing for their dances they would battle, and this week it was a consecutive battle for trainers. If a trainer won, they received an Eevee.
When Rayne recalled her Pokemon and entered the Dance Theatre, several different Eevee scattered around and played on the mats. Probably the different Eevees available to trainers who won.
"Can I help you?" An assistant stood at the door with a small letter board. She flashed a smile.
"Oh, yeah," Rayne nodded and returned the smile. "I heard about your event. I'd like to battle the Kimono Girls if possible."
"For the Eevee event?" the assistant asked.
"Yeah." Rayne said.
"Oh, good," the assistant lit up. "There's a spot open right now. Come with me." The assistant gestured and Rayne followed. She brought her to the front of the stage. "Wait here."
A moment later, the assistant disappeared up the stage and behind the curtains. A minute or so later, she returned with the Kimono Girls.
The assistant walked up to Rayne and offered another smile. "Ready?" she asked.
Rayne nodded, a pit of excitement in her stomach. She stepped up on stage as the first Kimono Girl took her place.
Their makeup was beautiful, and their costumes elegant and gorgeous. She knew she could expect Pokemon that matched then in their elegance and grace.
"I shall be your first match," the first Kimono Girl said with a bow. "She took out a Pokeball. This is my partner. Vaporeon!" She threw the Pokeball forward, and in a flash of light, the beautiful Vaporeon appeared.
Rayne smiled. Vaporeon was one of her favorite Eevee evolutions of all time. She always knew she wanted to raise a Vaporeon. Maybe she'd actually get that chance here.
Rayne withdrew a Pokeball from her belt and enlarged it. "Cleander, you're up first!" In a flash of light, her Shinx appeared and was ready. His tail whipped in excitement and he stared down the Vaporeon.
And the battle began!
"Quick Attack!" The Kimono Girl commanded and her Vaporeon darted forward in a blur. It was in front of Cleander in less than a second and whipped out its tail. Cleander was knocked backwards and hit the stage hard.
"You alright, Cleander?" Rayne asked. Cleander mewed and got up and huffed. "Good. Now Leer!" Cleander growled and narrowed its eyes and Vaporeon took a hesitant step back. "Tackle." Cleander rushed forward, and before Vaporeon could react, Cleander barreled right into it. Vaporeon rolled, but jumped back up and countered with a Water Gun, but it didn't look to do much. Cleander shook off the water.
"You must've trained for this," the Kimono Girl said.
"Yes, my entire team did," Rayne nodded. "Let's continue, Cleander, use Tackle!"
Cleander ran back out.
"Vaporeon, up in the air," Vaporeon jumped up, out of Cleander's way, "and fire!" Vaporeon shot down a Water Gun and hit Cleander. The Shinx slipped and fell from the stage.
"Cleander!" Rayne shouted. She took one step from her spot, but Cleander leaped back up, determined as ever. He shook his coat and panted.
"Wow," the Kimono Girl smiled. "Determined."
"Yes, he is," Rayne looked back. "Let's go, Cleander!"
Back and forth, back and forth, both Pokemon dodged and dished out their moves. Exhaustion gripped them both.
"One last time," Rayne's breathing was heavy too. "Tackle."
Cleander growled and rushed forward. Vaporeon jumped to the side, but Cleander wouldn't have any of it. He turned quickly on his feet and jumped out. He hit the Vaporeon right in the stomach and Vaporeon slumped to the ground.
The Kimono Girl watched and smiled. She raised the Pokeball. "Good job. But this was only round one." She returned Vaporeon, then turned and let the next girl take the stage.
"Round two," the next one said. She raised a Pokeball and tossed it out lightly. In a flash of light, a Jolteon appeared. Another beautiful Eevee evolution. All the possibilities!
"Cleander, are you okay to stay out there?" Rayne asked and Cleander nodded. "Good. Tackle."
"Thunder Wave," Jolteon's trainer commanded.
As Cleander charged, Jolteon jumped forward. As Cleander hit Jolteon, both Pokemon collapsed. Cleander whimpered and trembled.
Rayne gritted her teeth. "Alright, Cleander, it's okay. Continue to Tackle!"
"Quick Attack!"
Both Pokemon were offensive. Both continued to hit and attack. It was constant, and every minute that went by, Cleander was more and more exhausted. His fur was unkempt and his eyes glazed over. But he never gave up.
Jolteon shook on unsteady legs. "Quick Attack!" Jolteon's trainer shouted.
"Counter it with Tackle!" Rayne commanded. With a final push of strength, Cleander jumped forward and with the power needed, slammed right into Jolteon.
It must've been a critical hit as Jolteon hit the ground harshly.
Cleander returned to his spot and stood on shaky legs.
Jolteon's trainer returned her Pokemon. "Another great round. I see what my sister meant by determined. Now, your next opponent." The next Kimono Girl stepped up.
"My sisters' Pokemon may have fallen, but I won't go so easily." She said with spirit. She tossed out a Pokeball, and her Flareon materialized.
Cleander growled.
"Battle begin!" The assistance shouted and almost immediately Cleander ran forward. The air around him zapped and powered.
"Charge?" Rayne narrowed her eyes and watched. She cleared her throat. "Cleander, Tackle!"
Cleander jumped forward, but instead of Tackle, his body began to zap and trickle with electricity. Cleander jumped and the electricity from its body shot out toward Flareon.
Rayne watched with wide eyes and smiled. "That was Spark!"
However, Flareon jumped out of the way before the attack could hit. "Ember!" Flareon's trainer commanded.
Flareon spun up and shot out its attack.
Cleander was too tired to dodge, and then after the Ember hit, Flareon finished with a Tackle.
Cleander landed at the ground by Rayne's feet. He struggled to get up, but Rayne bent down at his side. She ran a hand through his fur. "It's alright, Cleander. You did well. You need rest."
Cleander relaxed under her touch and mewed weakly. She raised his Pokeball and recalled her Shinx. "Good job, buddy." Rayne smiled and put his Pokeball back on her belt before she took out a new Pokeball.
She got back to her feet. "Alright, Ming, your turn!" She tossed the Pokeball forward. In a flash of light, Ming was at the ready.
"A Fire type battle. Good," Flareon's trainer smiled. "Quick Attack!"
Ming was ready. "Bite!" Rayne shouted. Both her and Ming were in sync, and as Flareon got closer and closer, Ming launched herself over Flareon before bouncing back to grab Flareon's tail tightly.
With a yowl, Flareon started to buck. "Use Quick Attack, try to shake it off!" The Flareon's trainer commanded. And that's what Flareon did; it turned and took off, running fast and trying to shake Ming from its tail.
"Ming, plant down against the ground," Rayne commanded. "Stop Flareon from its attack."
Ming grunted and slammed her paws down against the stage. As Ming stopped and Flareon continued, Ming whipped her head and pulled harshly on Flareon's tail. The fire type cried in pain before stopping its attack. It turned its head, pulled back its lips, and spat Ember at Ming's eyes.
Though Ming was a Fire type, an Ember aimed at her eyes still did damage.
Ming let go of Flareon and reared back. She pawed at her eyes and whimpered, and then Flareon whipped its tail right in Ming's face.
"Tricky attack," Rayne frowned.
"Yes," Flareon's trainer also frowned. He's feisty and doesn't like his tail pulled. I'm sorry."
Rayne looked to Ming. "Ming, are you alright?" Her Growlithe looked up and her eyes were slightly watery. "Can you continue?" Ming barked and nodded. "Good, then you use Ember."
Ming turned and faced Flareon before she released an Ember attack. The attack hit Flareon's tail and it narrowed its eyes and whipped its tail again. The tanned fur was singed.
Flareon turned on Ming and jumped forward and hit Ming to knock her back. Flareon scoffed. Ming just growled.
"Ember and Bite," Rayne commanded.
Ming did exactly that and shot her Ember. Flareon simply dodged, but didn't have time to dodge Ming's Bite. This time, Ming grabbed onto Flareon's neck and did not let go. Instead, Ming pushed Flareon to the ground and dug into him night.
Flareon cried out angrily, but slowly lost its drive. It slumped and Ming let go.
Flareon didn't get up. Instead its trainer raise its Pokeball and recalled it. "Good job." The third Kimono Girl bowed in respect and let her sister take her place.
"Round four," the fourth girl said. She took out a Pokeball. "You're almost halfway there. Don't give up just yet." She tossed the ball forward and an Espeon appeared.
Espeon was another amazing evolution to have. It was the Psychic type evolution and it evolved during the day through friendship with its trainer. It had so many amazing, potential abilities. And it was weak to dark type moves. Perfect.
"Ming, stay out there," Rayne said. "Use Bite." Ming jumped forward.
"Confusion," Espeon's trainer commanded. Espeon's eyes glowed a bright purple and an aura appeared around Ming before the Growlithe stopped in mid air. A minute later, Ming was thrown back but she landed swiftly on her feet.
"Now, Calm Mind," Espeon did exactly as its trainer commanded, and closed its eyes.
"Ming, Ember!" Rayne commanded.
Even as Espeon used Calm Mind, Ming's attack landed. Even so, the attack looked like it did little damage.
Rayne gritted her teeth. "Get in close," she commanded. Ming ran forward at Espeon.
"Confusion." Espeon's eyes glowed--
"Not so fast. Ember!" Rayne commanded. As Ming ran out, and before the purple aura could cover her, she spat out an Ember attack. It hit Espeon right in the face and it staggered back a step. The purple aura around Ming disappeared and she rushed forward. It opened its jaws and grabbed hold of Espeon. With all the strength she could muster, Ming lifted Umbreon and tossed him.
"Use Confusion to weaken your fall." His trainer commanded, and Espeon obeyed, landing easily.
"Ember again," Rayne commanded. Ming continued again exhausted, but she did exactly what Rayne asked of her.
"Jump." Espeon jumped, but Ming ran and jumped up too, grabbing hold of Espeon's tail harshly before whipping her head to throw her down.
Espeon crashed and Ming landed lightly on her feet. She rushed back over to Rayne and wagged her tail, but she panted. She was tired.
"Huh, good," The fourth Kimono Girl smiled and bowed. She returned Espeon and let her next sister to take her place.
"This one next," she smirked and threw out a Pokeball. An Umbreon materialized.
Another beautiful evolution; this one evolved like Espeon, but during the night.
Rayne took out Ming's Pokeball and raised it. "Return, Ming. You did great." Ming wagged her tail and went back into her Pokeball without a fuss.
A moment later, she took out another Pokeball. "Now, for my first Pokemon. Raenhik!" She threw out the Pokeball and her abnormally colored Torchic appeared.
Three left to defeat.
Now, the real battle begins…

To be continued…

"Ouch, sorry man, I wasn't looking where I was going" Jason apologized as he picked up Houndour.

"Argh, why don't you just watch where you're going!?" The stranger barked at Jason before whirling around and walking away haughtily.

"What a jerk," Jason remarked. That being said however, he couldn't help but think about the man's voice. Something about it was... odd. Not quite familiar, but it still made him feel odd. Then there was the man's attire. He was wearing a large black trench coat and a wide brimmed hat. An overall shady man, but Jason couldn't stop lingering on that voice...

This thought was interrupted when Houndour called Jason, snapping him back into reality. "Alright buddy, let's go." Jason said as the two walked toward the Burned Tower. They stepped through the doorway to find the tower, well, burned. Almost the entire floor was gone, revealing the basement floor. Jason and Houndour had to walk along the walls just to avoid falling in. As the duo stared into the large, gaping hole where the floor once was, Jason felt somehow, inspired. He felt that Henry wasn't far, and that the two would be reunited soon.

With this new inspiration, Jason found a new energy. An eagerness to get out into the world and look for his brother. "Let's go Houndour!" Jason yelled as he turned and ran out the door. Jogging through the city, Jason ran on into Route 37.

TONY "SHADOW" O'SHEA

After what felt like an eternity of walking, Tony finally had come to the realization that maybe he wasn't going to find what he was looking for and maybe, just maybe was putting himself in a bit too much danger. The pair had made their way deep into the forest now and the fire was on three sides of them now. Maybe it was time to head back....

*thunk*

Tony turned his head towards the sound.

"What was that?"

*Thunk* Louder this time.

Something was out there and it sounded big and powerful. This could be what Tony was looking for. There was only one way to find out though.

"Let's go Kung. I think we found the exact Pokemon we were looking for"

The Mankey snorted in agreement as the two trudged towards the sound.

The two made their way through some bushes into a clearing. There Tony, saw but a single Pokemon tackling a tree. It seemed pretty riled up and angry. Must've become confused by the fire that was surrounding it and Tony now. Pulling out his Pokedex, he learned that the Pokemon was called Stantler and it was a pretty rare one too. It knew the move Megahorn, very rare for a Stantler to know that naturally.

Tony smiled as he knew that this Pokemon was about to become his. He looked down at his Mankey and nodded. The little Pig Monkey Pokemon pounded its chest in acknowledgment and walked towards the Stantler.

"Stantler! I challenge you to a battle!"

This got the Pokemon's attention and it turned in time to see the Mankey move into its battle stance. The two Pokemon stared each other, waiting for the other to act.

"Alright Kung, use Focus Energy!"

The Pokemon obeyed as it moved itself into a more calming stance and closed its eyes. The Stantler used this opportunity to charge in for a Tackle attack. It pawed at the ground before sprinting at the seemingly oblivious Mankey. Tony couldn't help but smirk though.

"Use Low Kick now!"

The Mankey opened its eyes witha frenzied look, dodging the oncoming Tackle and sweeping with one of its legs, sending the Stantler sprawling to the ground. The battle wasn't over yet though. The Pokemon had taken some massive damage but this Stantler was strong. Just to prove it, the Pokemon was already back on its feet, pawing once again at the ground. The next move caught Tony off guard though as the Stantler screeched at the top of its lungs, causing both Mankey and Tony to cover their ears in shock. Before either of them had realized it, Stantler had started a MegaHorn attack, sending Mankey flying back.

"Quick! Grab onto one of those trees using your tail!"

The Pokemon instinctively responded and swung its tail around a branch it was flying by and perched itself on it. That Stantler was strong, that Megahorn especially, but Tony wasn't about to lose this battle. This Stantler would be his.

"Use the trees to find an opening!"

The Pokemon swiftly started hopping around the trees, using its tail as vine of sorts. This only seemed to anger the Stantler more as it began bucking around and charging at the trees to attempt to knock the Mankey down. Little did it know that that was going to be its downfall. Watching carefully, Mankey and tony waited for the right opening before striking. That was one of the ideas burned into his mind by Chuck, the Cianwood Gym Leader. One couldn't go into battle blind and expect to win nor could it stand back and wait the whole match for the opponent to screw up. One had to find the middle ground if he/she was to be a successful trainer. Tony was employing this strategy now as he waited for the opening. He had to be patient but not so much that he missed his opportunity.

Mankey continued to swing across the trees and thats when it appeared. The opening. The Stantler was about to begin its assault on the tree Mankey was now in and had lowered its head for its next attack. Now was the time.

"Go Kung! Attack now!"

The Mankey sprang from its spot in the tree and landed on the Stantler's back, quickly beginning its onslaught of scratches. The Stantler reared back as it was attacked, attempting to shake off its opponent but it was no use, the Mankey was adept at holding on to things and this Stantler was going to have no chance at sending Mankey flying.

The Stantler was quickly becoming weak now and it was time for the final blow.

"Now, one last Low Kick!"

The Mankey quickly jumped off its opponent's back and prepared its stance once again before springing back into action with a dead sprint at the Stantler. With one last gasp of effort the Stantler tried to use another Megahorn but to no avail. The Mankey deftly avoided the attack and slid, kicking the legs out from its opponent. With quick reaction, Tony pulled out a PokeBall and launched it at the Stantler. He watched with absolute confidence as the Pokemon was sucked into the ball in a flash of red and began wiggling.

One wiggle....

Two wiggles....

Three wiggles....

Click!

Stantler was his, though you wouldn't have been able to guess by Tony's expression. It was a look of complete ambivalence like he knew he was gonna catch it from the start and the battle was only a formality. Tony walked over and picked up the ball and put it away into his bag.

"Let's go Kung, the fire is getting worse."

Tony coughed as he started walking back, the Mankey perched on his shoulder.

Ecruteak City

"Mari, use Thundershock!" Garrett shouted, pointing at the red Pokémon that stood in front of them. Mari's fur began to spark, letting loose a bolt of electricity, hitting the opponent successfully, causing it to cower on one leg, visibly hurt by the attack. Garrett quickly took out his Pokédex, using this as a chance to figure out what Pokémon he was battling with. Let's see...apparently this a Vulpix, a Fire-type! This'll add some variety to my team if I can capture this thing. The young man smiled to himself, turning his attention back to the battle at hand.

"Mari, use another Thundershock!" He commanded, however, to his surprise, the Vulpix launched an attack of its own, sending a few small balls of flame towards Mari, who was hit and then shrouded in a small cloud of smoke. "What the - ?" Garrett took a step back, taken off guard by the fact that the Vulpix was actually putting up a decent fight. As the smoke cleared, he saw his Mareep kneeling on the ground, with fur singed and trying to get up. Thinking quickly, Garrett glanced around at the ground, picking up a small rock and throwing it in the direction of the Vulpix.

Catching its attention, the Vulpix growled at Garrett, before he let out another command. "Mari shock it again!" He shouted, with his Mareep letting loose one more bolt of electricity, hitting the distracted Vulpix who once again knelt down, hurt by the attack. Now with an opening, Garrett opened reached into his bag for yet another Pokeball, and threw it at the Vulpix, engulfing it into a red light. He watched intently, the Pokeball shaking a few times, signifying that Vulpix was trying to struggle its way out of the Pokeball. [/I]C'mon, just a little longer before it locks...[/I] After a few more seconds, the Pokeball locked and ceased to move, with the Vulpix now fully encapsulated. "Ha! I knew it! That was almost too easy." He chuckled to himself, hastily running up to the Pokeball and holding it in his hand, letting his Pokedex scan it. "Hmm...it says here that...you're a girl? Huh, okay I guess." He murmured to himself, admiring the newly caught Vulpix for a little while longer.

"It's good of you to have come. Here in Ecruteak, Pokémon have long been revered. It's said that a rainbow-hued Pokémon will come down to appear before a truly powerful Trainer. I believed that tale, so I have secretly trained here all my life. As a result, I can now see what others cannot. I see a shadow of the person who will make the Pokémon appear. I believe that person is me! You're going to help me reach that level!"

The Ecruteak Gym is a dark and shadowy arena. The thin, long, winding wooden platforms and some rocks poking out in the shadows are the only things keeping grounded Pokémon from falling into the shadowy abyss below. What is in this abyss, you might ask? You'll find out soon enough...

Chapter 1.7 Ecruteak City/Route 37 (Kimono Girls) – Day 2

Raenhik stood at the ready as the next Kimono Girl got into her position. A moment later, with a smile, she tossed her Pokeball forward, and an Umbreon appeared in a flash of light. Umbreon was another beautiful Eevee evolution that Raenhik loved. There were going to be so many options if Rayne won her Eevee. For now though, she needed to concentrate.
"Focus Energy, Raenhik," Rayne commanded and she watched as her first partner shut his eyes and concentrated.
"Quick Attack. Knock it out of its focus," the Kimono girl commanded. Umbreon purred and rushed forward in a blur, straight for Raenhik.
"Now!" Rayne commanded.
Raenhik's eyes snapped open, and before the Umbreon made contact, the little chick Pokemon opened its mouth and shot out a powerful Flame Burst.
It directly hit Umbreon and caused the Dark type to stumble when it came inches from Raenhik. It gave Rayne's Pokemon the perfect opportunity to jump and spin before landing on the other side of Umbreon.
"I see you trained this Pokemon exceptionally well so far," Umbreon's trainer mused. She watched as Umbreon got up and simply shook itself off.
Rayne smirked. "Raenhik was my first Pokemon. He's the strongest of my three."
"It shows," Umbreon's trainer nodded. "Umbreon, Pursuit."
"Get in close," Rayne said. Raenhik darted forward as Umbreon pursued. "Low Kick."
Both Pokemon were close, and both hit hard. A moment later, Umbreon and Raenhik skidded across the ground, dizzy.
"You alright, buddy?" Rayne asked, concern clear across her face. Raenhik jumped up, shook itself off, and chirped.
Umbreon did the same, but snorted. It raised its head up, and turned its back on Raenhik and whipped its tail.
Raenhik grew angry and chirped angrily.
"Hey, calm down," Rayne commanded. "It's taunting you.It wants to make you angry. Don't let it win."
At its trainer's words, Raenhik paused before he stopped and nodded.
"Good, then finish this with an Ember and Flame Burst combo." Rayne commanded.
Raenhik rushed forward across the stage. Now, he was faster than when he was first let out, and before Umbreon could turn back around, Raenhik jumped and spat out the bursts of flame.
With a yowl, Umbreon flipped around and stumbled with the flames licking at its coat before it ran off the stage in a fit of anger. It rolled against the mats, and a moment later, it slumped in angered defeat.
Umbreon's trainer bowed. "I apologize for him. He's a little… fickle. You win against me." With another bow, she made her way off stage and let her next sister take the stage.
"My turn," the sixth Kimono Girl said and tossed out her Pokeball. In a flash of light, a lithe Leafeon appeared. Though Leafeon wasn't one of Rayne's favorite, it was a favorite of her mother's. She remembered she had her mother's Leafeon looking after her in the past, so she still had a lot of respect for this grass-type evolution. No matter, it was still weak against fire-type Pokemon, and with each moment that passed in battle, Raenhik only got faster.
"Flame Burst!" Rayne commanded.
As her Torchic shot out its attack, Leafeon just stood in its original spot.
"Counter with Razor Leaf," Leafeon's trainer commanded. Leafeon released the attack, and it hit Raenhik's attack before it covered the stage in a light veil of smoke. Leafeon launched itself over the smoke and smacked into Raenhik using a Quick Attack.
Raenhik skirted back.
"Ember!" Rayne commanded. Raenhik huffed and spat out the embers toward Leafeon.
"Counter again," Leafeon's trainer commanded. Leafeon released another Razor Leaf, and both attacks collided in another layer of smoke.
Leafeon jumped up once again for a Quick Attack, but Raenhik was no longer in its original spot.
"Now!" Rayne shouted.
Raenhik jumped up, behind Leafeon. It inhaled and spat out a Flame Burst which hit Leafeon.
"Don't let it concentrate," Rayne commanded.
Before Leafeon could shake off the shock and pain, Raenhik darted forward and released a combo of Low Kick and a close cornered Flame Burst.
In a cry, Leafeon fell to the ground in a heap, defeated.
"Well done," Leafeon's trainer recalled the Pokemon and bowed. "You've defeated six of us. There's one of us left."
Of course, Rayne took one look at Raenhik, who was breathing heavily. He looked worn-out. "Stay strong, buddy, only one last opponent to go." She coaxed, and he nodded.
The last Kimono Girl took her place on stage. "You're the first person to get this far, well done," she mused and took out a Pokeball. "But I won't make your win easy."
She tossed out her Pokeball, and in a flash, Glaceon appeared. "Let's start off with Hail!"
Before Raenhik could react, Glaceon cried out and the air around them seemed to condense and spin. Encased by the stage, ice crystals started to form. A moment later, it was powerful, thick hail, and it was showering all over the stage.
Raenhik cried out as it hit him. He fell to his side and struggled.
"Raenhik, stay strong! Both of us are strong. Both of us will preserver and make it through!" She cheered.
Encouraged by Rayne's words, Raenhik pulled itself up and cried out at Glaceon. A moment later, brilliant light engulfed Raenhik. His form grew, and the Hail didn't break through the light. The light disappeared, and in Raenhik's place stood a Combusken!

256.gif

Rayne grinned. "Raenhik, you evolved!"
"Combusken!" Raenhik turned to her and nodded.
"Alright, then let's finish this match. Get in quick, and use Low Kick!" Rayne commanded. Raenhik rushed in, faster and sturdier now than he was as a Torchic.
Glaceon was too shocked by the transformation to react, and Raenhik lashed out. But instead of a simply low-sweeping attack, Raenhik swung out with one, then his other foot, smacking Glaceon to the side.
Rayne's eyes grew with shock. "That was Double Kick." Rayne's smile grew. "Excellent, a new move. Raenhik, use Ember and Flame Burst to get rid of the Hail."
Raenhik nodded and spat out the fire continuously until the Hail stopped and the stage was covered in a humid steam.
Glaceon whimpered and pulled itself up.
"Finish this," Rayne commanded. "Flame Burst."
"Counter with Icy Wind," Glaceon's trainer commanded.
Both Pokemon released their attacks, but the Icy Wind just wasn't strong enough to hold back the Flame Burst.
Glaceon hit the back of the stage, burns covering his body. He shivered and collapsed in defeat.
Applause erupted from the Kimono Girls as Glaceon was returned. "Congratulations! You've won against us. You've won a chance to take home an Eevee."
Raenhik rushed forward and hugged around Rayne's legs. Rayne laughed and embraced her Combusken. "You and the others did fantastic, Raenhik." Combusken chirped softly.
Rayne and her Combusken left the stage and the main assistant walked to her side. "If you come with me, you'll be able to pick from the Eevee we have here." Rayne gave a nod, and couldn't stop smiling.
By the cushions, about nine to ten young Eevee were all either sleeping, playing, or watching. One particular Eevee caught her eye. When she walked up, while a few Eevee ran up to her legs to rub against her, this Eevee stood back and looked at her with a determined expression. It was as still as a statue, except for the occasional flick of its tail.
Rayne smiled at it. "They're all beautiful, but I'd like that one." Rayne pointed to the still, determined Eevee. At her choice, it smiled and shook its bushy tail.
"Of course, that is Eevee number six. Male. Bold nature." The assistant said as she leaned down to read the Eevee's tag. "Sign here." The assistant handed Rayne a paper and Rayne jotted down her signature.
"One moment please." The assistant stepped away for a little bit before she returned with a Pokeball. "This is the Eevee's Pokeball." She handed it to Rayne.
"Thank you," Rayne smiled widely.
While the other Eevee were herded away, her Eevee simply remained and watched her.
Rayne got down on her knees and put out her hand. "Can I pet you?"
Eevee purred and leaned into her hand.
Rayne giggled. "Welcome to our team. How would you like a name?" She asked.
Eevee blinked and stepped forward to brush against Raenhik before climbing into Rayne's arms.
"I'll take that as a yes," Rayne's smile was too wide. "Welcome to the team, Darwin."
With Raenhik at her side, Rayne walked for the Pokemon Center. "Let's heal everyone up, and then afterwards, we'll go home for lunch and show mom our success so far."
"Combusken!" Raenhik agreed and raised up a clawed forearm, triumphantly.

Gordon Aranash

When Gordon went away, he didn't know where to start or what to do. He had never really been outside of Violet City alone. Gordon felt like a stranger. After much thinking, however, he felt that while he decides what to do, he can make a path towards an anchor point. A starting place, a place where once he decides what to do, he can branch out multiple directions so that no place is too far away. In the Violet City pokemon center, he looked at the region map and decided his anchor point would be Ecruteak City. And so thus begins the travels of Gordon Aranash.

Location: Ecruteak City

"This is a pretty big city Cranidos... I'm not sure how I feel around so many people." Gordon murmurred to Cranidos, who was out of his pokeball and beside him. Cranidos looked up, and flashing a big smile, cried out towards Gordon.
"Cranidos!" The pokemon said, trying to exude happiness.
Gordon managed a weak smile. "You're right. I shouldn't feel scared with you around. Then mostly speaking to himself, Gordon said, "Well, if this place is bigger than Violet City, then this place should have those same buildings too." Gordon turned to Cranidos. "C'mon, Cranidos. Le's go find those buildings." Gordon said, and started walking. Cranidos followed close behind.

After a couple of minutes of walking, the two came across a building with a red roof.
"This must be the pokemon center, Cranidos. Let's hope we don't have to come here often!" Gordon said, smiling.
"Alright, Cranidos. Let's find the other buildings." Gordon said, and the two walked off again.

More searching around the city and Gordon and Cranidos came upon a purple-looking building.
"This must be the pokemon gym, just colored a different color. Why do you think the colors change from each city, Cranidos?" Gordon asked the pokemon. When he got no response, Gordon spoke again.
"Yea, I don't know either. C'mon, let's go find the last building." Gordon said, and off the two went again.

After a suprisingly long time to search, the two finally found the last building.
"Here it is, Cranidos. The poke mart. I really want to go in there right now and buy something but I can't. I don't have any money. I should've asked mom for some before I left. Oh well." Gordon said.
"Cranidos." Cranidos said in agreement, nodding his head.
Gordon pondered for a second. "Well, Cranidos. How about we go back to that route we were on earlier? I saw some awesome pokemon there, and it is away from people. Maybe now that I know where the pokemon center is, we can fight some wild pokemon!" Gordon exclaimed.
"Cranidos!" Cranidos cried out in agreement.

And so thus, the twosome of Gordon and Cranidos headed back south, backvtowards Route 37.

Acelin "Ace" Noisetier
Joywarden the Dratini

Ace finally arrived in Ecruteak City, the city where history flows. He looked forward to seeing if it held up to its title. The city was rooted in the past. It's architecture, ultimately unchanging, remained standing tall. Ace fumbled with a pamphlet that detailed the layout of Ecruteak City, common for tourist who visited. There were so many sites to see. His heart fluttered at the thought, even if he was restricted from entering the Bell Tower at the moment.

The attraction that drew visitors to Ecruteak City were the towers that stood like watchers over the city. Forever in an autumnal state, the city hid many wonders. Ace, no longer standing in front of the Pokemon Center, drifted through the city. Where should I go first? Not quite ready for the gym. He still needed to train. Having another Pokemon would be increase his chances of winning. The towers? A possibility. Legend tells that they were built to foster bonds between Pokemon and humans. It might prove useful for his research. The Kimono Dance Theater? Beautiful all around. He pondered for a moment before being colliding with reality.

He looked up from his map to see he walked into a burly man at the end of a line forming outside the theater.

"Sorry," Ace said straightening out his shirt and adjusting his bag.

"Don't worry about it kid. Not even you can ruin this moment," he said. Rude, but honest, his words.

Ace peered around the man, "What's this line for? Shouldn't you go in to see the show?"

"We are the show," the man said. "The Kimono Girls are hosting a competition. We battle each of them and their 'eeveelutions'. No breaks. We get an Eevee. They're uber strong. Look, kid, I'd love to chit chat, but I gotta start thinking of a strategy."

With that, the man turned around. Ace looked down at his Pokeball. Were they ready for such a challenge? They could be. If he battled them he would get a personal look at some unique Pokemon. He wondered if they had a Sylveon, a more recently discovered branch of Eevee's evolution line. They were more common in Kalos than any of its other forms. It's time for practice. He bounded off towards Route 37. His eyes, wild with excitement, were locked on the path ahead.

"Hey!" a voice called out as he rushed by. Startled, Ace whirled around, stumbling in the process. An elderly man stood before him. "Be careful out there. Wildfires have been cropping up all willy-nilly. Burning down so much, they are. No one's found out why, yet."

Ace nodded, "Sure, thanks. I'll be careful."

Ace continued on, slower now, as if a fire would jump out of the bushes and attack him. Wildfires? That's odd. He grabbed a Pokeball from his belt and pressed the button on its front. It grew larger then he tossed it into the air. A white light was expelled from it. It formed a serpentine shape and faded to reveal the mirage Pokemon, Dratini, or as he called him, Joywarden. Joywarden streaked through the air, twirling, stretching.

"Time for some exercise, buddy!" Ace said. Joywarden cooed as it floated down and nuzzled him.

They wandered through the trees and grass on the route, encountering minor threats, such as Pidgey and Hoothoot. Soon the duo came across a tuft of reddish fur poking out of a bush.

"Bingo," Ace said. "Bring it out of the bush."

Joywarden's tail gleamed and harden, resembling a blade. His tail whipped around, cutting through the air. With tremendous force, it slammed down. Before making contact with the bush, Joywarden stopped his tail. Joywarden turned to Ace alarmed. Ace rushed over to find a Vulpix curled up in the bushes. It looked ill. It barely lifted its head to look over at the pair, before collapsing back to the ground.

Ace scooped up the Vulpix. He turned to Joywarden, "We have to get it to the Pokemon Center."

Ace plucked down a nearby Pecha Berry and Oran Berry and fed it to the Vulpix, hoping to deal with some of the illness. It chomped on them. Its energy was dwindling, but it managed. The group made a beeline for the Pokemon Center.
