Your favourite battles in the games?

What's your favourite battles from Pokemon games.

Mine too two are:

Kukui "champion" battle in SM
First time in all 7 generations I had no idea who the champion would be and I love the twist that it was him all along, and was the best payoff to the question of where was the starter strong against yours? Mostly this high on the list because of the music. Hau was just ok, I think I'll warm up to it over time, but Kukui was the best.

1) Final Rival Battle in Kanto
I dont think anything will top this final battle for me. I absolutely love how Blue was your final obstacle after the whole game, your journey starts and ends with him. His team has counters to every single mon you could possibly throw at him, his music was awesome and the best part is how personal and satisfying this victory is for the player.

 

[Lysander]

Definitely the Cynthia battle in the Sinnoh games. She is still my favourite champion to this day and is always a challenge no matter which Pokémon I have on my team. Her battle theme is also my favourite out of all the other champions.

 

[Devalue]

Struggles to identify a clear favorite. Enjoys most Champion battles for their music and their fairly strong teams. Winds up being a question of favorite champion music, in that case. Has a soft (nostalgic) spot for the earlier music.

Outside of Champion and Elite Four battles? Maybe Totem Lurantis (normal Sun/Moon)? Can be pretty tough if you do not have the right team and are at even level. Partially just enjoys seeing Castform do things halfway competently. Interacts with the weather in a meaningful way. Serious question: is Castform on any NPC trainer's team in any game?

Loves watching a good Totem Wishiwashi battle too. Knows how to avoid the worst of it now. Still appreciates Alomomola's contribution.

Might consider one of the Revavroom battles in Scarlet/Violet. Has not fought them enough at the proper level yet, though.

 

[Explorer of Time]

It's been a while since I fought him... but N's final battle in BW1 (especially White 1). It's one of the few opportunities to fight a Legendary with over 600 BST in a trainer battle in a mainline game, and it doesn't have the steep level curve of the first four regions' Pokemon Leagues.

 

[ReKoil]

I don't think I have one. If it's about setting I'd go with the Deoxys fight in ORAS. The fight itself is kinda annoying though if you don't prepare for it. Shedinja with Heal Block completely cripples Deoxys for example. Can also just chuck your Master Ball if you still have it. The setting though... you're on a Rayquaza in space fighting an alien...

Some other more unique settings like fighting trainers and Pokemon underwater in Hoenn come to mind.

Steven Stone's champion battles in Hoenn are pretty good... but I feel like that's largely due to him just being the most likeable champion to me. And using Pokemon that I like.

I never really pay attention much to the battles themselves tbh. It's just battle spam everywhere for exp. and money and then you're done at some point.
