If you are interested in horror movies, what was the scariest movie you've watched? Do you still have nightmares when you think about it?

raunchy twisted torture scenes =/= horror, that said i'll cross out all modern "horror films"

i can't pinpoint the creepiest film i've watched, probably one of Hitchcock's mind-warping thrillers or some eerie surreal work of Cocteau's. the most recent truly disturbing film i've watched was the original Wicker Man, not exactly hair-raising but sinister enough. great soundtrack too.

I would have to say the grudge. I was unprepared for it. My made me watched it and I couldn't sleep. I had to sleep with my friend that night. I was terrified. Now if I want to watch scary movie I watched the trailers to check them out first.

I'm not a huge fan of horror movies so I haven't seen too many. The scariest I've ever seen was the Exorcism of Emily Rose. Possession movies don't settle with me. Although I did see the Exorcism and laughed. Go figure.

No I've never had a nightmare about it. I just sometimes get a little nervous because the movie highly stressed that 3 am is the witching hour and I'm up late during the weekends and vacation.

Not really sure what it was called, but it involved "if you scream, you'll get your tongue cut off" I admit i did stay up all night thinking about it...

I love the genre, but I usually find myself laughing through all of them.
I don't particularly find any of them "scary" as such.

I haven't really seen any movie recently that was scary. The Exorcist wasn't scary for me but it was the closest to it.

Not scary as in "ahhhhh" scary but A Clockwork Orange messed messed me up a bit. I don't scare easily but that wasn't a pleasant film. Amityville Horror was pretty scary as was The Shining.

I would say the Ring, but I saw that when I was younger and probably wouldn't be as shaken if I sat through it now.

So I guess Paranormal Activity would be it. It wasn't as scary as everyone made it sound, but I'm not gonna lie, I was up all night half expecting to be dragged out of my bed screaming. :|

I gotta admit, The Grudge was pretty scary as well.
I REALLY didn't think it would be scary at all, but... oh God, the end really got me. xD

I don't rememebr the name of this movie, but it's about this red-headed little girl, I think 7 years old, who is OBSESSED with ehr father and gets jealous and hates several women figures.

I think she killed her teacher, a librarian and her Dad's fiancee.

She trashes a house and kills a pet. :/

    Never finished it. XD

    CHUCKKY!!

I watched it when I was kid and go figure. I was terrified of him and I have a chucky-complex now.

I've yet to be truly scared by a movie since I've passed the age of 12.
I was expecting The Grudge to be scary, it wasn't, I just ended up laughing, it was that terrible.

Every horror movie just seems to employ the same tactic, they try making you jump by going from eerie silence straight to a loud and quick attack from some evil creature in just a split second. It works, but I wouldn't say that's good horror, rather just playing with natural instinct.

Dead Silence? That was pretty disturbing. At least it managed to create some sort of sinister atmosphere rather than just making me laugh.

This thread inspired me to try and find a movie that seems like it would actually be scary and I'll watch it tonight, I'll post again if I can find one.

I don't like wathcing scary movies so naturally I just avoid wathcing them altogether. However, the scaries move I have seen is Harry Potter and the Philosipher's stone. But it was scary to me when I was really little. Voldemorts two faced head creeped my out! D:

Paranormal Activity is like, the scariest movie of all time. Seriously.

Really? I thought the first one was horrible... only the end was a little frightening..
even thought i couldn't sleep the night i saw it -__-

I watched The Grudge when I was.. 7 I think, and I couldn't sleep for weeks..

I'm glad I'm not alone, the Chamber of Secrets scared the hell out of me for some reason. I kept thinking there was a basilisk in the walls of our house. ): Nowadays I watch it and wonder wth I was on to be so frightened of it. xD

    I can't really say.

I don't much like horror movies. Not because I find them scary, but the genre in general doesn't appeal to me. I remember watching a documentary about ghosts and paranormal activity when I was around 8. Probably the most frightening thing I can remember. I haven't watched much horror since then.

OHHHH. Mr's Bean's Disaster Movie. I remember being really, really freaked out when Whistler's Mother started melting, or whatever. Kinda weird thing to be afraid of. In my defense, there was ominous music playing and whatnot =/
